How to hide my dropbox cache from view?

Hi, I'm trying to neaten up my Dropbox files, but over the last few weeks I'm suddenly able to see .dropbox.cache in the main dropdown and also a file called 'desktop' in each folder.

It's not the end of the world but it bugs me when I'm trying to streamline my filing system. If I try to delete the desktop file it just pops back up again. Obviously I don't want to delete the cache folder, perhaps just hide it or something (even though in properties it's listed as 'hidden'). Hope I'm not being dense. Screenshots of both below;

Hi Lusil - followed step-by-step but no luck!

Pffffftt like that was going to do anything!

Go into your drobox folder in file explorer and select the VIEW menu, if you have no menu press the ALT key to bring it up.

View > options > change folder and search options > view tab > advanced settings > hidden files and folders > Don't show hidden files, folders or drives. > ok

You might want to also do the APPLY TO FOLDERS button to push that out to all folders.

Hey ar12, thanks for reaching out to us. Let's see what we can find.

At first, could you let me know if you've tried rebooting your computer by any chance?

Do you also have any OS prompts for any updates?

    Keep me posted - thanks!

Hi Lusil thanks, I've just tried to reboot but no changes. I've not been given any update prompts either.

Thanks for your swift reply, ar12

Have you also tried a simple reinstall of the desktop app? You can do so by following these steps:

        1. Make sure that you save and quit all apps that access files in the Dropbox folder.
        2. Stop the Dropbox desktop app from running by clicking on the Dropbox icon next to your computer's clock, selecting your avatar, and choosing Quit Dropbox
        3. Uninstall Dropbox.
        4. Reboot your computer to make sure the uninstall is complete.
        5. Download and install the newest version of the desktop app.

Let me know how it goes!

PS. Please note that if you're on a Basic (free) account, there's a three device limit and you'll have to make sure that you've got less than three devices connected to proceed.
