Shared Link / "scl" to "s"

Hello. My question concerns my recent issue with file sharing. Usually, my links were generated in this way: 'https://www.dropbox.com/s/'. However, lately, every file is being generated in this way: 'https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/'. Do you know a way to restore the old way of generating links? I just need old way of links, because game can't read new links

This was from the support chat transcript, without putting the full files in:

The end of the one that didn’t work:
dl=0&rlkey=(Random stuff)

The end of the ones that did work:
dl=0

However; even the overall links are entirely different:
The one that didn’t work had:
https: //www. dropbox. com / scl/ fi (numbers and letters)/(what I named the mp3 file)?dl=0&rlkey=(Random stuff)

The ones that worked are:
https: //www. dropbox. com /s / (random numbers interlaced with the mp3 file name. Specifically %20)?dl=0

Edit: erased numbers and letters for key section to be substituted with (Random stuff)
Edit 2: placed spaces in the urls so they don’t hyperlink to anywhere
Edit 3: More spaces to EXTRA make sure it doesn’t go anywhere

Thanks you for your reply.
I changed dl=0 to dl=1 on the new link and it worked perfectly in Geoching.com

Shame Dropbox didn't give notice of this change to save all this hassle.

I've fixed my problem.
As suggested by Ufodynasty I changed the dl=0 to dl=1 and the link now works in Geochaing.com 🙂

What a shame Dropbox didn't warn us of the change to the link it would have saved so much hassle.

How do you change the link? Do you write it after you hit “copy” on Dropbox looking through files?

Hey everyone, I hope you're doing well! 

This is expected behavior, and it's a recent change that's available to some users for now. 

You should still be able to create a direct download link by replacing  "dl=0" with "dl=1".

While it's great that the "dl" parameter appears to be working now, this does not solve the use cases requiring the "raw" parameter instead of the "dl" parameter.

"raw" is the parameter used to preview content on a website instead of prompting a user to download the file, or open a new window.

The new links for whatever reason are not working with the raw parameter. This is a common use case and certainly warrants a solution of its own.

Hi guys, how to get the shared link like  https://www.dropbox.com/s/  instead of  https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/ 

when I upload a image and click the copy link, I only get url like scl/fi, I don't want this kind of image url because it contains many dropbox things and not a pure image.

Same here. Before this change I could replace

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xyz/file.mp4?dl=0

with

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/xyz/file.mp4?dl=0

and it would give a direct link to the file.

This no longer works, not even with/scl/fi/ instead of /s/. Please fix dropbox or does anyone have a workaround?

Hi,

In the past, links have been shared looking like this:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xyz/file.mp4?dl=0

But now I see links looking like this instead:

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/xyz/file.mp4?dl=0&rlkey=abc

Is this a new standard or because of some user setting? Notice /scl/fi/ instead of /s/ and the extra rlkey at the end

This is important, because I've been able to replace

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xyz/file.mp4?dl=0

with

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/xyz/file.mp4?dl=1

This is to gain direct access to the file and play from a media player such as video js and similar.

Now, suddenly thousands of links will stop working for both me and my clients.

Please fix or come up with a workaround Dropbox.
