Shared Links

Dear Dropbox Support Team, I’ve received a notification stating: “We have suspended your activity. Your files may contain phishing elements.” I’m unsure why I received this message, and it’s severely impacting my Dropbox experience. I primarily use your service to synchronize files between family computers and to share files with family and friends. I don’t require a paid subscription because the features offered in your Basic plan are sufficient for my needs. Isn’t your Basic plan intended to provide free services up to a certain extent? Could you clarify why I’m being penalized? What specifically triggered this issue? I can assure you that my files don’t contain phishing elements, and I make a conscious effort to keep my Dropbox space safe and clean. Please provide further details so I can resolve this issue promptly. Thank you for your support. Best regards, TonnoSolved61Views0likes9CommentsOpen shared links directly in native app
A few years have passed since this request and as a business this would save us allot of time and irritation. As a company we share daily hundreds of links to files via Microsoft Teams with each other. Now the situation is as follow: 1 link is shared 2 team member clicks on the link 3 browser opens the link to the file 4 user clicks on 'open in dropbox' button Ideal situation would be that admins and users have a File open preference, where links to files can directly open in the native apps: 1 link is shared 2 team member clicks on it and the file is synced and opened in the native app Microsoft Teams has a great solution to this problem for Office-applications, called File open preference, see screenshot. It would be great if Dropbox could also build this feature in it's Dropbox-apps.8.2KViews17likes5CommentsGet file metadata (video resolution and duration) from shared folder
Hi everybody, I need to access a file metadata using endpoint "files/get_metadata". I need to get video resolution and duration. My code works fine is the file is in my home folder, but it doesn't work if the file is in a shared folder. I can get the files list in the shared folder with endpoint "files/list_folder" and using the shared_link parameter. So, how can I get metadata for a file in a shared folder?Solved74Views0likes2CommentsCommercial use of audio streaming on Dropbox, are there any GDPR requirements?
Hello! I have 2 questions: I sell audiocourses in books and give the users access to the audiofile with a QR Code. After buying the book the user can scan the qr code with his phone and listen to the audios (the audio player directly starts). 1) Is it ok to use dropbox for this function? 2) Is there any data transfer happening from user side, if he access the audio? Does he needs to give permission regarding GDPR? Thank you for your kind support!15Views0likes1CommentShared links result in 400 error.
For some months now I am not able to share links since anyone who will open it will 9/10 times receive an error 400 message. Everytime I share these links I first test them in an incognito window and they work completely fine. It seems that after a while they simply stop working? Sometimes I will test a link a second time a couple of minutes later and despite working fine previously, they suddenly can't be opened. It is very annoying and I can't find a solution to this.31Views0likes7CommentsDownloads disabled feature not working
I have my downloads disabled for a shared link. Whenever I test the link being shared to another email, the download option is still there and able to be used. I pay to use this feature on dropbox, and for it to not be working is ridiculous. Anyone have any idea why or how to fix this?Solved2.9KViews0likes11CommentsIs it possible to see who created the link?
I gave my former attorney access to my dropbox so they could obtain and send my documents to opposing counsel. My former attorney sent dropbox links to opposing counsel. I want to find out if these links were to MY dropbox or if the former attorney moved the docs to their dropbox and sent links to THEIR copy. I have the URLs. I got another attorney and at some point (probably weeks later) deleted the links I created, assuming OC had the docs. Opposing counsel (OC) went to my new attorney and claimed they couldn't open the links and requested the documents all over again. Meanwhile, OC told my former atty the reason they didn't obtain the docs is because they simply delayed in obtaining them. I was billed almost $3,000 by my new atty for compiling the documents again. I'm trying to find out if the links my former atty sent were links to MY dropbox documents or if the links were to an account owned by my former atty. How can I find out if former atty linked to my dropbox or their own? Many thanks in advance for any help find out whose links were sent. I have a basic account now but I had signed up for DocSend free trial when links were sent.28Views0likes4CommentsDropbox shared links not opening for friends who don't have Dropbox
Here is a message from a test of a dropbox link sent to a friend, I am hearing from many friends (email link to video) that they are confused by all the messages, place download Dropbox, or they have to search to open my link. I am looking for a straight forward software , send a link and it opens on friend's computer by clicking on photo, instead of downloading, this and that. etc. I will cancel my subscription unless i learn a way to send a link to a friend (a friend who does not have dropbox downloaded. I just want them to click on link and it opens. see the message from my test send to a friend. They're probably opening it on their phone. I opened It on my laptop, and it went right to the video. I clicked on my phone, and it had 2 popups saying "Download App" or "Open in Browser" They don't know there is a second option where you can open it directly. Thought i'd let you know! [Removed as per Community Guidelines] Since you don’t have Dropbox on your machine, will you see how this link works, The Dropbox instructions say anyone should be able to just click on link and it opens, some friends claim they get message to open download Dropbox.54Views0likes1Comment"We’ve suspended your sharing activity" error
Hi, Recently I stopped being able to join shared folders and when I share I folder myself I get this error: "Can't share file. We’ve suspended your sharing activity because of a violation of Dropbox’s Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, and Terms of Service or Services Agreement.". I've been using this Dropbox account rightfully for about 15 years, is there any way I can fix this problem? Thank you.Solved4.3KViews0likes48Comments
