Re: The ending of my shared links changed

Shared Link / "scl" to "s"

Hello. My question concerns my recent issue with file sharing. Usually, my links were generated in this way: 'https://www.dropbox.com/s/'. However, lately, every file is being generated in this way: 'https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/'. Do you know a way to restore the old way of generating links? I just need old way of links, because game can't read new links

Hi from me as well, @aaronpanganiban21

Setting permissions for shared links is currently available to Dropbox Professional/Business users.

Can you please visit this page, and let me know what’s the type of plan you see there?

Thanks.

I currently have plus.

The thing was the previous two files did NOT even have the option to set those permissions. There was not a create password option with the links at all. But after being forced to restart my Mac it started making them.

And if I can ask, are you meaning to tell me after being forced to restart my Mac, something updated to essentially make me have to pay more for a function I originally had literally a few days prior?

I made a post about this same issue as well.
It started after the integrated Dropbox thing on desktop for Mac didn’t upload a file properly, then as I was attempting to remove it via browser, it froze Finder and I had to restart my machine.

Then since then “scl” has been popping up but also, when I hit “copy link” or “create link” on the browser side for Dropbox, it has the word “key” in the link.

I know I’m supposed to just keep it to one forum post so that support can run through it properly (I think) but I’m really trying to figure out this thing.

My web developer and I had zero issues literally few days prior.

Hi,

My links now have key in them as follows:
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/e17j4iyiqcziorl6x7ksh/maths-36.jpg?dl=0&rlkey=z6vwle02055i1v2zwkdybu5...
Works fine as a URL in the browser but will not render when I put it into a HTML <img> tag.

My old links that work OK look like this :

https://www.dropbox.com/s/u2wyh9xf0za8t9e/Michael%20Collins.jpg?dl=0

What was you original post called ?

Re: Dropbox links creating "key" in shareable link after failing to sync

Someone named Amy has been responding, but still no dice on a solution quite yet.

How long ago has this happened to you?
Mine was a sudden shift between days (fine last Friday 06/02/2023, tried uploading Monday 06/05/2023)

Edit: Dropboxers named Nancy and Hannah. Not Amy

Same here.
Fine on Sunday 4th June ,  next day I got the new link.
Seems like the same period as yourself.
Pretty sure nothing changed my end.

Let me know if you get a resolution.

Also discovered via another thread this happened to several other people, but also, happened to someone within the same time frame (over this last weekend 06/02/2023 to 06/05/2023)

Was there some rollout over the weekend?

Hi @aaronpanganiban21, could you provide an example of the end of a shared link you're getting, but change the key itself for your own privacy?

Hi Hannah,

no the link doesn't work when I delete the extra characters.

Our charity allows visitors to listen to a weekly audio recording through the telephone line. In order for it to work I need a code generated by Dropbox to be able to link the audio file in my Dropbox to the parent website that operates the telephone line. With the generated codes acting differently, the parent website can't access it and reports it as a fault.
