Removing Dropbox from my computer is proving to be a nightmare. My computer Operating system is Windows 10.
I have managed to un sync from my account and deleted all the folders concerned in my Dropbox account.
On my computer the Dropbox folder is located C:\Users\dough\Dropbox and it contains a "PC" folder in which contains Desktop, Documents, and Downloads.
Whenever I uninstall or delete the Dropbox folder I lose all the content from those folders Desktop, Documents, and Downloads.
I have no need for Dropbox and wish to remove it completely from my computer, would you please explain to me how to do this.
I would appreciate it very much. Thank you.

Thanks for this. I assume that I will need to re-install Dropbox first.
No worries, @FrustratedUserB, yes, the Dropbox app will need to be installed, so you can follow these steps.
As for you @Janinec, can you maybe tell us a bit more about your issue?
Have you followed the steps here to disable our backup feature, after realizing that your desktop and documents folders were backed up to Dropbox?
What troubleshooting have you done so far? Any additional info would be really helpful.

Gosh I don't really want to reinstall it as it seems like a virus that controls all my files. I lost so many to drop box and Im unrecommending it to men friends.....the prices to get my own files back I never gave permission to give is ridiculous and extremely time consuming. I really think there are some ethical problems with the ways its operating. I guess I have no alternative but to sit for hours longer trying to figure out how to get MY files back.
regards
Janine

Hi @Janinec, could you clarify what your issue is exactly? Are the files missing on the computer or the site directly?
Are you able to recover the missing files from the deleted files page?
