Megan. I said I'd come back here and give an update to everyone else who was having the same problem as me.
A Dropbox employee, named Luke, who works in 'account security' emailed me at my new email address. He went thru a few security questions to verify it was me and that I did own the Dropbox account with the old, no longer in use email.
After he was happy with that he was able to bypass the 6 digit code verification and I was able to get into my locked account.
10/10 for Luke in account security.
So in short;
Get onto account security.
Answer security questions to verify it's you.
After you verified it's your account someone from account security Dept will disable 6 digit code verification.

Hi mairiclaire76, you can get in contact with our support team directly by opening an incognito/private browsing window, while not signed into your account, and accessing this link.
From there you should be able to contact support. Make sure to pick an email to which you can receive and send emails from. - Hannah2 years agoDropbox Staff
Hey tightpurchaser, it's true that the one-time security code will also come in as a notification to any devices you might have connected to the account in question.
You can see more info about this in Samantha's reply here.

Hi Jessicalee11, if you haven't done so already, you can reply to the support ticket to confirm that you have contacted legal representatives. This way the communication could be done via formal methods.
