Re: Dropbox and Files app freeze

Dropbox unstable in iPad OS Files App.

The problem I have is that Dropbox seems to crash when running on an iPAD via the apple files app. If I open an application that uses the files app, such as Pages or Final Draft, when saving to the Dropbox via the files app, it crashes the app and for the next 4 to 5 minutes if I click on drop box via the files app it just doesn’t load.

Apple has confirmed this is a Dropbox issue (I raised it with them first), and I have not been able to crash the application(s) using Google Drive via files in the same way.

Can anyone help?

Have you figured out why this happens. It’s gotten to the point for me that every single time I annotate a pdf it freezes. This is infuriating and is affecting my productivity. I have the paid version of Dropbox, not the free one. If I don’t get a solution for this issue, I will need to find another cloud storage app.

I have to add, it's not just the files app, but any app that wants to access the files.

I reported this in this thread more than a year ago. Sad to see this still on going,

But glad to report I "fixed" the issue months ago by stopping to use drop box. No issue with using Google Drive, iCloud Drive and One Drive,

I actually save money as I am now using the free versions and use them all as 3 different folders which gives me the capacity I need once combined.

The fact that it split is not an issue since it's all accessible from the same File app.

Just wanted to add that I have been experiencing this issue for years. Is Dropbox even aware that this still ongoing? It’s basically useless for any app that tries to read or write to the Dropbox folder because it’s hit or miss with 50% probability. As others have noted, there are no issues using other storage providers.

Ok, seems to be solved here.
I updated to the very latest app on my iPad and now it seems to be working.
No problems now in about three weeks.
