Re: Stop backup?

I'm trying to stop an external backup, how to do this?

Hello!

Trying to stop an external drive backup.  The only directions I can find are vague and are for STARTING a back not stopping one.

Also those directions don't make any sense.  Here's a snippet:

"To set up a backup:

  1. Click the Dropbox icon in your taskbar (Windows) or menu bar (Mac).
  2. Click your avatar or initials in the upper right.
  3. Click Preferences.
  4. Click the Backups tab.
  5. Click Set up."

Say what?  Avatar or initials?  Where is this?  Not on my Mac.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.  Oh, and I still hate dropbox, for the record.  Cheers, Nic

That is the menu option which appears on your computer if you have Dropbox installed and running - as that is the only way of doing backup (as it works on the software on your machine)

Thanks for your reply Mark, much appreciated.

I think I get it.  I had to reinstall the DB application to get it to "populate" on the menu bar.

That was my confusion as opening the app only opens a new Finder window.  That's an error on DB's part for sure.  It should open the same dialog box the menu bar item opens, right?

Thanks again for the help.

Hey @lateafternoon, I hope you're doing well!

If you look for the little Dropbox icon on your menu bar, next to your WiFi and click there, you should be able to find the app's preferences.

Can you give it a go?
