Sharing a parent-level folder with a user who has access to a child-level folder
Hi
Our company uses Dropbox for Business.
We have one parent folder for "Company Accounts".
Within this, there are sub-folders from "A" to "Z".
Within each of these, there are specific account folders, e.g. under sub-folder "A" there is "Acme", "ABC Company", etc.
Within each account folder, there are more sub-folders.
Scenario:
A user has access to the "ABC Company" folder, but not to any of the parent folders ("A", or "Company Accounts").
I now wish to assign access to the "A" folder.
Question: Am I permitted to do so, or do I need to first unassign the user from all child / sub-folders before I can assign them at a higher level?
Hi Celeste M; welcome to our Community!
As long as your team's admin allows external sharing or top level editing (this depends on the user you're sharing the folder with, i.e. a member of the team or an external one) I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work Celeste.
Why don't you give it a go?
If you stumble upon an error while doing so, please provide me with a screenshot so I can have a visual to assist further.
Thanks!

Thanks Walter
Yes, we are sharing with a team member, not externally.
Thanks for the advice. Another team member of mine has done the sharing successfully, so it has definitely worked.
