Re: No synching from Finder (Mac) To Dropbox online or app

No synching from Finder (Mac) To Dropbox online or app

Hi guys

I hope you can help me out. I have two Dropbox Accounts, one from work and one private.

I have both accounts synched to my mac, so I can access both accounts from my Mac through the Finder.

Now my private dropbox has stopped synching: I can make changes or upload documents to my private dropbox an my Mac (via Finder) and everything looks and works fine. BUT: I cannot see those changes on my Dropbox app on my phone or in the dropbox cloud. I have waited some time for synching but now its bee several days and I still they do not show up (Finder on my mac still shows the files I uploaded though)

This problem only occurs with my private account, my work account is synching perfectly from/to all devices and platforms.

I already checked for synching problems, but there dont seem to be any. Can you help me out on how to fix this? Thanks!

Do you have 3 or more devices connected on your personal account? This could be the reason why you can't add another device to the account.

Hi @CKipshoven, thanks for messaging the Community.

Is the personal account signed into those other devices, in addition to the work one?

What happens if you edit a file from the other device instead of the computer?

This will help me to assist further!

Hi Jay 🙂

- Is the personal account signed into those other devices, in addition to the work one?

I am not sure: I can switch between private and work account on my phone ( dropbox app), on the web and in the Finder.

But: If I click on the little dropbox Icon on my mac (in the menu bar) it says, that my private account is not signed in (c.kipshoven account "abgemeldet" - see screenshot). When I want to sign it in there, it doesnt work.

- What happens if you edit a file from the other device instead of the computer?

I tried uploading a picture from my mobile to both my dropbox accounts. Uploading to my work account was easy - it shows on all devices.

Uploading to my private account didnt go well: The pic only shows on my mobile, where I did the actual upload. It doesnt show on the web or on my mac (finder).

I get the feeling, something is wrong with my private account...

Thanks for helping!

I've edited the image to remove the names and email addresses.

Do you have any proxy, VPN, firewall, security software, or even ISP/router settings that could be restricting traffic to the following Dropbox domains?

Nope - I am not sure, but it might be, that the syncing stopped when I got my new computer. I installed everything and in regards to when my last items where sync on the private account, it must have been around that time. Could that be a problem?

Yes - I guess that has been the problem 🙂 I deleted all the old devices and now we are syncing properly on all devices 🙂 Thank you for your help, Jay!
