My Dropbox folder for my workplace is missing on Mac OS

My Dropbox folder for my workplace is missing on Mac OS

I've recently gotten a new laptop and have reinstalled Dropbox on it.

My workplace has a "<Workplace> Dropbox" folder with all our relevant shared admin files and folders. These folders were visible to me yesterday, however, when I clicked on the folder today I got a random warning message. I think it was something like "Some apps on your Mac might have trouble opening online-only files. You can always open Dropbox files by double-clicking them in Finder" but I am not 100% certain.

Anyway, since then, all folders are missing in my "<Workplace> Dropbox" folder. However, I can still see all the files online as well as my own personal "RyRy" folder from my workplace. What's going on?

There is a blue synching icon next to the "<Workplace> Dropbox" folder, and I've set the folder to "make available offline" though I don't really want all the work files on my machine and this hasn't brought back the folder visibility.

Previously, when Dropbox was working fine, I had it set so all our work files and folders were visible BUT not located on my computer unless I had opened them in which case the file would download and sync to my hard drive. I'd prefer to have this funtionality.

Any advice?

I'm running Sonoma 14.7 on a macbook air.

Thanks! RyRy

Hi @RyRy, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Could you let me know what version of the Dropbox desktop application you're running?

Additionally, where is the location of the Dropbox folder as it appears in Finder?

This will help me to assist further!

Thanks for your reply @Jay --

I'm running version 208.4.5824

The location of the dropbox folder is Users --> RVW --> Dropbox Folder

Let me know what you think, Ryan

Are there any files attempting to sync down to your computer through the Dropbox desktop application?

What message you you see when you click the Dropbox icon in the menu bar?

Hi,

The folder has the blue sync icon next to it but I can't see files attempting to sync and there has been no change in the folder for over an hour.

When i click the Dropbox icon in the menu bar, I am shown my activity in the past 7 days and my team's activity. However, the details of the activity may be incorrect (though I cannot say for certain).

R

Thanks for the info. Could you try the steps in this article to see if they help with the syncing issue?

Hi,

Thanks, I don't have firewalls or network restrictions.

I haven't had an error message about low disc space.

I don't have a hardware issue or disk error.

Anything else you can advise or is there a part I'm missing? Thanks, R

Could you try enabling full disk access, which can found in that article, as you're on a Mac device?

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I've tried that and restarted my computer, but the main folder is still missing.

Thanks for the info, I'd recommend contacting the support team from your Dropbox team account in order for them to investigate this in more detail on their end.
