Files appearing in my desktop Dropbox that I didn't upload
Hello and thanks in advance for your help.
I am using the desktop version of Dropbox that I share with my boss. I have selected in 'preferences' the files I wish to see visible, but whenever they more or upload things, they appear on my desktop version. How do I avoid this? If I move the files elsewhere, does it change on the other person's end too?
Thanks again

You can't. Any new files added to your Dropbox will sync. Once synced, you can use Selective Sync to remove the folders you don't want.
If I move the files elsewhere, does it change on the other person's end too?Yes. Any changes you make within a shared folder are synced for all members of that share, and synced across all devices linked to your account.
I am using the desktop version of Dropbox that I share with my boss.Just as an FYI, if you and your boss are sharing a single Dropbox account (both using the same credentials to sign in), you're violating the terms of service. Dropbox accounts are intended for individuals and should not be shared. Doing so could result in the account being deleted.
If you need to share, each person should have their own account and you can share a folder between the accounts. Any member of the folder will see everything within it.
