Re: Backing up to On-line Cloud only folders

Backing up to online-only folders

I can't find a way to upload from my backup (syncback) program to on-line only dropbox. A program needs a path, not a drag and drop that the browser version offers. When I use a folder on the computer set to off-line only, it turns to "hybrid" (open green circle) and the data stays on my hard drive.

If you're trying to use a path within your Dropbox folder, you won't be able to store the files directly as online-only. You would have to set them as online-only after you added them to your Dropbox folder. Also, there's no way to upload directly to your account other than through the website.

If I had to guess, you're trying to use SyncBackFree, or maybe SE. Is that correct? The SyncBackPro version directly supports cloud storage, including Dropbox.

Hi there @JanK - thanks for posting on our Community!

What you described is actually expected with online-only files, as these are only placeholders of the actual files until you make them available offline to your computer, at which point you should be able to back them up using any 3rd party app to do this normally.

I hope this clarifies!
