Recent Dropbox - Mac 12.3 Monterey support
The official support page relating to Mac OS Monterey 12.3 Dropbox compatibility is 2 months old now, and Apple just released (April 2022) first beta version of 12.4 and patched 12.3 with 12.3.1, but...
- 2 years agoHi everyone,We wanted to provide an update on availability of full support for macOS 12.5 and higher to more customers. We’re continuing to expand our rollout through May 2023, and anyone interested in receiving this updated experience earlier can join our beta now.If you haven’t already received the update, you can expect it between now and the end of May 2023. We’re also working directly with a small subset of customers with complex configurations to ensure their migration is as seamless as possible. Here’s how you can join our beta:
- Basic, Plus, Professional, and Family plan customers: Turn on early releases and keep an eye out for a notification to opt-in
- Standard, Advanced, Enterprise, and Education customers: Contact your Account Team or Customer Support for more information
The updated experience is more integrated with macOS and comes with some changes that are consistent with macOS requirements. For more information, please visit our Help Center.Thank you.

The macOS 12.3 issue has been discussed in many threads with occasional contributions from Dropbox staff. Many of us are using the beta and discussing it in various scattered threads which is part of the problem. If you search the Community for "CloudStorage" you will find most of them.
Here are a few of the more informative ones:-

Dropbox Location change to ~/Library/CloudStorage on Macs
Confusion about Dropbox folder location in macOS Monterey 12.3
Dropbox are not managing the communication of this topic at all well IMHO, especially the impact on third party apps which use Dropbox.

@Michael unfortunately those links don't work for me - just goes to an Access Denied page.

12.4 Monterey is out and I am still holding back on updating.
On my work laptop I am already on 12.3.1 and Dropbox still seems to work and still in the ~/DropBox folder.
OneDrive already forced me to move all to the new location where I am not able to delete files anymore because they are not moved to the trash but force deleted.
I am now very afraid that if Dropbox moves to the same location I will no longer be able to delete files normally but also only force delete without moving to the Trash. If this comes I can no longer use Dropbox and need to find some other solution. Perhaps iCloud allows me to use the folder like a normal folder.
But at the end this support message appeared in April 2022 and we are in June, perhaps DropBox just doesn’t want to update anyway.

BeauGiles . More mysteries of the Dropbox Community!
Are signed up for early releases?
I am but even so I do vaguely remember having to sign-in or sign-up for to go to a link that a Dropbox staff sent me to, and that is probably why you are denied access.
Maybe a Dropbox staff will help here.

Why don't you use Maestral instead? It works fine, it's very light and Apple Silicon-ready.
