I'm changing computer, how can I use the same external drive for my backup?

I'm getting ready to buy a new laptop and my dropbox backup location is actually an external hard drive which is connected to my current laptop.  I can obviously just plug in the external hard drive to my new laptop and have all of my dropbox files.  Can anyone share instructions how to change or tell my dropbox account that my backup location is now a new laptop?  Appreciate any tips on how to complete this easily.  Thanks - Todd

Hi @Todd7, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Just for clarification, when you say backup location, do you mean that your Dropbox folder is located on the external drive when it was connected to the old laptop?

Also, what is the OS version of the new computer you're going to use? Is it the same version as the previous laptop?

This will help me to assist further!
