i would need to be able to use folders as the equivalent of a playlist and be able to skip to the next file or play the next file when the previous one is done. As a musician that would be extremely useful for my own productions and could replace SoundCloud for sharing.

Thank you for your time and for a nice product. I have a few suggestions regarding playing audiofiles (.wav, .mp3 format) on the dropbox player, it would be great to have you take a look at this as I think it would help alot of us.
Background:
For those of us who are music producers / composers, or in anyway who use your services to store and re-play our works on mobile and PC devices there are a few things that would help re-playability. I think this would further your position in attracting users from similar services like for example Soundcloud (which could function as inspiration for code and UI).
1. Buffering
To hear an audio material, you have to press it three times. One to switch UI to the individual audio file, two to start buffering, three to play. The third time you press also has to be delayed, so that the buffering process has started. Please automate this process to work with ONE CLICK. It would also be nice to have an indicator that the buffering process has started which is now a guessing game.
2. Audio Player position and size.
Make the audio player larger on the screen, especially on mobile devices. On mobile the majority of the screen is filled with a placeholder image. It's like audiofiles are being treated as a videofile without an image. If you make the player bigger, especially the Play button, it will be easier to navigate, pause and scroll through the material on the go.
3. Folder Switching:
If several audiofiles are placed within a folder together, it would be nice to have them act as a playlist. When one material stops, the next should start automatically or there atleast be a function to chose this. It would be great to be able to switch songs by swiping right and left on mobile and if already playing something, it will automatically understand that you want to buffer and play the next file meaning swiping equals play+buffer next audio file.
4. Material continues playing when you exit the window and pause/play button is always visible:
As of now, if you are playing any audio file, and exit the window back into the browser the material stops playing. If you lock screen or exit the app, this doesn't happen so it would be nice if song keeps playing until the user choses to pause it. It would be good if the play / pause button was visible during playback, wherever in the app you are (on mobile) so that continuous browsing can occur while still listening.
Thank you

Hey guys,
Dropbox updated recently and stopped being able to play music in background
It also stops playing when I rotate my phone and re-buffers.
I'm a music producer/soundtrack artist and this really lowered the relevance of uploading my stuff to dropbox....
I wanna be able to write comments and ideas while listening, or replying to relevant mails and so on
I'm using Samsung FE20
While I play music on my google drive this works flawlessly
anyway you can sort this out?
Thanks a lot

On top of this, I would like to add the ability for Dropbox to do two different things simultaneously (on mobile):
Example: Open a slide (where the lyrics are), while playing an audio file (of the recording to which we sing to), or open Paper (where the lyrics are), while playing the corresponding audio file in the background. Currently, it's either or. So, we end up just accessing Dropbox to download the file only, and use other apps which can support both audio and visual (for the lyrics) at the same time.

for music so it’s not 1 by 1.
yalls post says ur not a media player…..
but only people who use dropbox are media career people ……. 🤔- LoV3z3r02New member | Level 2
Hey Dropbox if you do get to read this I use this site for my music and assignments and want to ask if you could add an autoplay feature for music or audio. Plz
- stokedlifeExplorer | Level 4
hello,
when can you guys make a continuous play option?
I saw a post saying ur not a music player, but that makes zero sense.
ur a media storage company, & all musicians I know use dropbox for music collaboration.
could you please make this feature asap, its about to be 2022, this should be beyond obvious.
please please please and thank you.
- HannahDropbox StaffHey stokedlife and LoV3z3r02, thanks for your ideas.
I just merged them all into one thread, so it can get as much support as possible!

Oh and 3rd party apps are not an option because they don't support offline sync on iOS, and that would not solve the sharing part which would use the web Dropbox client for consumption.

This idea is going to need a bit more support.
We've updated the status to encourage more users to back you up!

I saw in the patch notes for the app on iOS that any suggestions could be brought to the forums, so I thought why not suggest this new feature. I use Dropbox primarily for audio files and sometimes when playing through them, it would be much more convenient to have playlists.

Hey i am at the point of just figuring out a whole new system for my record label, i love dropbox for actually keep files and music but at this point there is no reason there isnt a option to make a collection of songs into a playlist to listen to or share. As of now we have to use songspace, soundcloud, etc when dropbox could easily be a 1 stop show for the music industry. We have all been asking for this year after year, ill be personally sharing this with box.com & wetrasnfer. Whatever company thar figures this out + the right security will get the business of majority of the music industry

My company is a commercial music house. We use DB to share folders of music options (.wav files) with clients for their consideration re: licensing tracks for various projects. There are other products out there like DISCO that are dedicated music file sharing platforms. But we feel that Dropbox is a superior way of sharing and organizing files in general and we're mostly happy with it. The only thing really missing from our "client pull" workflow is the ability to play music tracks within a folder, (without having to open the link for each individual file then click back into the folder to view the next track.) If the folder functioned like a playlist does, allowing for playback within the folder window, our clients would have a much easier time auditioning tracks and evaluating them. And it would give the competition a run for their money, within the niche of audio.
From a UI perspective, this could be as simple as a playbutton where the .wav icon currently is or incorporated into the .wav icon (rough example below).

As a music producer, I support this idea. I use dropbox for sharing media for previewing purposes.

Hello
Proposal: We make Dropbox more friendly to showcasing creative work... poets and writers could gather they best works together and share with a single link, photographers could create a selection of digital galleries and share each one as viewable in a single click, film makers could share their showreel as a single link that plays through a selection of short video clips... and they can update and edit and move around so that same link continues to showcase their current work. Finally musicians can set up a range of playlists that present emerging or best work in a user focused way, both to share digitally and in office environments.
Delivery: Minimal viable implementation could see the creation of playlists within the App and website so users can build bodies of work and share with a single link. It could also be a simple 'play all files in this folder' option, to break up that clunkiness when looking to present a body of work. The more comprehensive implementation would see Dropbox Galleries become a way for photographers, film makers and artists to present their work, with links becoming webpages showcasing their work direct from their folders, with positive association and highvisibility brand placement Dropbox's payoff.
Thanks
Justin (Juzmania5)
Creating a simple playlist feature could really support creatives... writers could gather their best work and share with a single link, a film maker could build a show-real and use dropbox to share, photographers could create digital galleries viewable in a single click and a songwriter like myself can use it to assemble the latest mixes of a project or present their best work in a single click.
Having had this thought for a while I thought it was time to share it as user feedback.

For the music industry professionals, specificially in the management space, it's infuruating to have to use three or more platforms. We need a space to store creative catalog and legal documents acrossed multiple clients. Dropbox is great for that. Dropbox is great for practically 90% of our needs because everything is easily storable, integrated, and shareable. PLUS dropbox has the most simple interface.
However, it sucks to have to use another platform for what should be extremely simple. That is a media player. When managing artists we need to be able to send out private links that include any variable of songs and sometimes video file. I totally understand the desire not to make a fully functioning media player but at least, AT LEAST, create an option to automatically go to the next media file within a folder for **bleep**s sake.
I don't want to use songspace, soundcloud, Reprtoir, Disco.ac, or any others. Especailly when this implementation within dropbox would be so simple. BOX does it. Your biggest competitor does it.
DO IT!

Hi
I have some summary of books in .MP3 that I’d like to listen along side reading the summary in .PDF.
Why don’t we give the possibility to minimize the player while browsing in the Dropbox app. Thank you. - SoundheightzExplorer | Level 3

Hello,
It would be nice to have a music player for our music that is stored inside Dropbox...
For example, I create a folder of certain music and I would like to hear all of them together.
I want to have a button to easily add them to Dropbox music player, and then skip a track, shuffle, etc....as for now, I have to play a track and if I want to hear the next track in my folder I have to go back and click on a new track.
Thanks - mazurjaNew member | Level 2
I have thousands of songs in my Dropbox account and would like the ability to listen to them without having to download my entire library to my mobile phone. I would love for the Dropbox Android app or a sister app to have the ability to play songs directly from my Dropbox account. The media player would ideally have features like random play, playlist creation, etc.
Alternatively, an ability to link to those media files from existing media player apps such as Rocket Player would also work.

So,
i'm here because a little bird (https://twitter.com/DropboxSupport/status/1362840257348198405?s=20) told me to share ideas here.
I would love a simple and real music player in dropbox, with support to mp3, flac, ogg, (maybe midi?...), playlists, an equalizer.I already have all my music uploaded on dropbox, only the player is missing, i already pay the annual subscription to dropbox, i'm really annoyed by youtube music, advertising on my own music is sad.
My need now is: listen to my music. No other stuff, no ads, no stupid suggestions, no monetization, nothing, only the music i have.
There is nothing to do that on multiple device.
Maybe some third party application but i dont like so much giving them access to my dropbox account. There is already the (in my opinion...) useless microsoft office integration so why not a simple music player?
I hope someone will hear/read me.
