Hi there, I absolutely hate the feature "Suggested from your activity". I would like to see a checkbox in settings that allows a user to disable that permanently and have the cleanest possible view of file(lists) and folders. The "Suggested from your activity" feature always shows my family photos or, like today, a preview of my tax form. Whenever I open dropbox in the office to browse my files, all my work colleges can see these previews too. The icon that hides it, is only remembering the setting as long as one does not delete cookies from the browser. At our company, it is policy to delete cookies every day at the end of the day. So this "hiding" setting is pretty useless for me. More over, please make it possible to have a clean, minimalistic UI without all the fluff, super big blue buttons and "easy access" helpers. Some people don't need it. It is distracting and disturbing.25KViews80likes49CommentsViewable tags next to folders/files when you try to preview them.
Hello Dropbox team 👋 I would really really love to be able to see tags appear besides the name of the files in any view, or folder, and on the mobile app, web version, and desktop app. Just a nice coloured tag left to the star icon would be wonderful. Yes, I know at Dropbox you are not a big fan of small, seemingly unnecessary cutomizations that don't serve an immediate and measurable purpose, but making customers happy is very important (here by improving UI and UX significantly and seemlessly for a small amount of time and effort). I'm sure the intern could figure it out in three days. Also if you are hyper motivated you can add a filter for tags to sort files (but NOT necessary, making them visible and coloured is already a great improvement). Here is what I imagine when I say tags: For colours you can do just like in Notion, where you can choose from pre-determined colours:34Views1like2CommentsPasting a screenshot using the website
For windows users, or anyone else that uses the clipboard in the OS to maintain text, images, or other items for easy copy+ pasting between applications - I would like to see the DropBox web interface accept a "paste" ( Ctrl + V ). This allows for fast screenshotting in Windows 11 ( Win + Shift +S ) that puts the cropped image in the clipboard for pasting. This expands the use of Dropbox to sync screenshots across Operating systems, and becomes very useful for workflows like QA of web applications, documentation selection, etc, etc. A number of these examples exist already in web-based "screenshot" websites which host the images for a short period of time before disappearing. Combine the Dropbox experience with the ease of pasting experience to get a sharable, trackable, linkable screenshot.1.7KViews0likes3CommentsDo not include <space> in inherited Dropbox Business folder location
Currently, the location of the Dropbox folder for Dropbox Business on a Windows machine is inherited from the business name as <businessName><space>Dropbox. This creates a space in the path name - "BusinessName Dropbox". Not all programs (especially engineering programs) can handle spaces in path names, and some command line parsers error with spaces as well. Please remove the business name from the inherited path, or provide an option to include a character other than <space> (such as <underscore>) to separate <businessName> and Dropbox - "BusinessName_Dropbox".58Views0likes2CommentsSort the stared files with tags
All the stared files can be viewed at one place, which is comfortable. What would make it even nicer: that I could sort it by tags, so I could see only the relevant files I am looking for. The same idea can be applied to all the files in dropbox storage. So, if applied, we'll have 2 parallel sorting mechanisms : folders & tags! - you can't top that.20Views0likes1CommentBack button to be added when viewing pdfs.
Can a "back" button be adder to the PDF viewer on iPad? We use Dropbox to host reference manuals, some are more than 1000 pages. It would be great if after clicking a link to a part of the document there was a back button which returned you to the previous page.2.6KViews7likes12CommentsDocuments aren't sorted correctly in Paper
Sad to say that there are numerous bugs in a once wonderful Paper, but perhaps the most annoying one is files no longer sorted based on when they were last open. I now get random files from years ago showing up in the list when I log in to the app or web, and have to search every time to find the most recent file I updated. It's extremely frustrating, and clear that the app is falling apart at an alarming rate.54Views0likes5CommentsPreserve file Creation Dates(and other metadata) in mobile app versions
The ability to preserve, view, sort by, etc the original Creation Dates(and other metadata) of files is missing or severely limited in the Dropbox mobile apps. People who don’t use Dropbox primarily for business purposes on a computer but, as many of us do these days, use our smartphones as our primary(or only) method of keeping track of media/documents/audio files/etc are having to deal with the frustrating situation of trying and failing to backup/reorganize/download to another mobile device/etc our files without losing this extremely important file metadata. I can’t even view ANY file information on non-photo files, and the photos are difficult to even upload with a title that reflects the actual creation date. If not uploaded at a painful 1 image at a time (and many times not even then) the file name will be changed to the upload date/time. The creation date is ALWAYS listed as the upload time or the last time that it was moved, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc. There’s no sort by CREATION date, only sort by Modification date which is just a complete denial of basic file management for those of us who manage all of our files on mobile phones and tablets. We desperately need full file information accessibility for Dropbox mobile apps… ESPECIALLY the ability to preserve and sort by the ORIGINAL file creation dates… and to not lose access to those creation dates when moved, renamed, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc, but to keep them intact despite all modifications. Creation dates and modification dates can be preserved separately without sacrificing one for the other, as long as the files’ metadata remains intact.6KViews21likes24CommentsFile date changing
Hi I have seen a number of posts about DropBox changing file dates to "date modified" which appears to be the date the file was uploaded to DropBox. This is weird because if you are just uploading and downloading files from one computer to another you want the original date to be retained. The date of the uploading is mostly irrelevant. For searching based on date the file was created/last edited is what I need to maintain my records by date created/edited. This happens when I use the app of the web and add files to a DropBox folder the date it was added is saved as the modified date. It gets stranger because when I download to another computer I can restore the original file date if SmartSync is on and set to local but this worked for Excel files but not for PDFs! BTW I am using Windows 10 on both computers. I could not work out behaviour from previous posts. thanks for any help3.5KViews1like8Comments
