File manager view on the Dropbox site
I would much prefer to have the files and folders presented in a file manager tree view rather than having half of the screen taken up with preview thumbnails of recent files. The current layout is frustrating to work with, especially when working collaboratively as it encourages poor file management practices. I want my Dropbox interface to be clear and functional, not fun.
Add Folder Sorting by Creation Date
I would like to suggest a feature that could greatly enhance the functionality and usability of Dropbox: the ability to sort folders by their creation date in addition to the existing sorting options. Why This Feature is Needed: 1 Efficient Drive Management: When cleaning out or reorganizing storage, sorting folders by their creation date provides a clear timeline of when content was added, helping users identify older, potentially obsolete folders. 2 Improved File Organization: This feature would allow users to understand the chronological context of their data, which is especially useful for archival purposes. 3 Consistency Across Systems: Many file managers (e.g., Finder on macOS and File Explorer on Windows) already offer this option. Having it in Dropbox ensures a seamless workflow between local and cloud storage. Feature Details: Add "Creation Date" as a sortable column in both the web interface and desktop applications. Ensure folders can be sorted by creation date, just like individual files. Include this option in APIs for developers who work with automated tools or scripts. Potential User Benefits: Faster identification of outdated data, leading to more efficient storage usage. Default sorting by date taken on the photos page on the website
Hey Dropbox Team, This is a request for an enhancment of the Photo Viewer interface. I love this feature because i typically group my photos in many differnt folders by theme which makes viewing all my photos across a timeline difficult to do without opening all of those different folders. The issue I have is that, the default sort for the Photo Viewer interface is by "Date Uploaded." This seems like the least helpful sort field when trying to view your photos across time. It seems like the obvious default metadata to sort on for photos taken over time would be "Date Taken." I will often wait months and even years before uploading all of my photos in a single day, in which case the Photo Viewer interface will display years of photos attributed to the day they were uploaded which is useless when looking back on them. Could you change this default to view photos by "Date Taken" and NOT "Date Uploaded" or could you provide a toggle to allow sorting by different Metadata fields? Embed a video into a webpage
I'd love to have a feature that can embed/stream videos from a webpage. I specifically use Squarespace, and I pay a whole other service (Vimeo) to host these videos. So I'd be willing to pay extra add-on for this, just so I don't have to use Vimeo (now that they're charging a ridiculous amount for the value you get).On iPad, adjust column widths, or allow line wrap, to show full filenames
Is it possible to prevent long filenames being shortened from the end? My filenames need to have the whole name displayed, rather than having the end characters chopped off. These "end" characters identify the various versions of the same file. Many thanks, JohnF
