Then assuming you're using the same email address to sign in, you hadn't accessed the previous account for more than a year and it was deleted/had the content removed, and by signing back in you've activated a new account.
This does appear to be a brand new account. Is there any way to retrieve the "old account"?
Typically, no. When an account is deleted there's no way to get the previous content back. Are you absolutely certain that you're using the same email address? Check your email (including your spam/junk) for any messages from Dropbox. They would have notified you several times before deleting the account.

Wow! I do not think I asked to create a new account, but you nailed it. I tried my other email and found all the pictures (and a warning that the account is nearly full) in that account. Thank you for your insight and time! You have no idea what a relief this is. Thumbs UP!!

I wish I could go back and Thumb Up your responses or give you credit of some kind. I don't know how to do that. The thumb ups are not active (grayed out).
