Dropbox Folder Location: Can't Use External HD? (MacOS Monterey 12.6/ DB v165.4.4300))
I shuffle around large images a lot (1-3Gb apiece), so I use a few terabytes of dropbox space. historicaly i've used an external hard drive as my dropbox folder destination, and all has been well. I updated my DB app on my Mac (running Monterey 12.6) and now it has folded DB into my local hard drive (which does not have enough space for my files). The field where destination is set (Preferences > Sync > Dropbox folder location) now has the following text:
"This version of macOS requires Dropbox folders to be stored here:"
I cannot seem to change the destination nor revert the change DB's update created. Has anyone had a this similar issue and found a way to use an external still?
Thank you

The latest changes for Dropbox on a Mac require the Dropbox folder to be stored in the CloudStorage folder on your system drive. This is a requirement enforced by Apple's new File Provider API. Dropbox no longer supports external hard drives on a Mac.

Thanks for the reply Rich.
I just got off the phone with mac support and they are blaming Dropbox API for being broken. The technician said that after poking around on the internet for a few minutes, these issues only seem to apply to DB when it comes to cloud storage providers... guess i'll hope for dropbox to update someday.
Thanks again.
