Notifications about beta

How many times do I have to click "no thanks" before Dropbox stops asking me to try the beta by adding a huge red bubble to my menu bar icon?

so I had this problem until about now and resolved it with the help of support chat, so thought I'd post it here, 'cause ppl are still posting in this thread.

if you still has this issue and haven't resolved it first of all check your version (you can find it in preferences or just hovering over the icon in menu), if it's something like 173.3.6706 then you already running beta, the .3 tells it, stable has .4 in the version. if so, go to your general settings on the site (https://www.dropbox.com/account/general) find 'Early releases' section, turn it off.
after that quit your app, redownload stable from the site, reinstall, wait a minute (if you didn't turn off the option it's gonna update itself to beta and restart), check again that you're running .4 in the version.
everything should be fine now.
still don't know if I turned this option somehow a while ago or it was on by default.

  While you can postpone the update of the Dropbox application to the new Dropbox for macOS version, I'm afraid you'll have to do it at some point, otherwise the application won't work properly after a while.

I have the same issue and I'm not interested in being a beta tester while working on active projects – help us turn these notifications off!

"The beta experience for Dropbox on macOS is available now."

I think I've seen this message 20 times over the last couple months, and I've answered "No Thanks" each time. The red notification dot is very attention-grabbing in the top right area of my work computer and each time I roll my eyes and click the No Thanks again.

If you *really* need beta testers, please email me. Maybe I can be persuaded. Either way, please consider stopping pushing these notifications every week.

Having this issue as well. I'm this close to disabling notifications and taking Dropbox off the top menu bar.

  Maybe I had the preview for the Apple M1 support? I followed the steps; time will tell if this works.

  This solved the issue with the endlessly recurring notification badge. Today, however, a new notification appeared prompting me to update to the new version. I do not want to update and the document linked below specifically says:
  "Note: While we recommend opting-in to the latest version of Dropbox for macOS, this migration isn’t required for you to continue using Dropbox."
  
  The notification apparently cannot be dismissed.
  Please fix this—allow the notification to be permanently dismissed (or make a clear statement that all users must update to continue using Dropbox.)

Dear ~~Gretchen~~ DropBox,
I'm sure I don't need to tell you but most people if not 99.999999999999999999999% of people that are running DropBox are running it on their production machines. Only a DropBox developer, or QA staff would run DropBox on a non-production machine. This is somewhat obvious to everyone, but not you, apparently!

Anyway, our files are precious to us, hence the reason for your company. Again you should know this already. Since our files are important to us, why on God's earth would anyone want to run your beta software on production machines that could potentially permanently destroy our files?

Have the beta option buried somewhere a developer could find after digging around. But for the love of all that is good, please don't prompt average users on their production machines to run you beta software.

We pay you a monthly fee to do QA for us. If you want us to do your QA, you pay us. My hourly rate starts at $200.

What's wrong with you, Drop box??
It's not rocket science. Please stop notifying us about your worthless beta software, PLEASE!

  I totally agree with the other comments here: It is absolutelty unprofessional to ask its users within a real productionenvironment to run a beta test for them. Thats not only unprofessional it raises also questions about some kind of mindchange behind this service. Using this service since more than a decade now, i am considering to switch if this behaviour doesnt stopt NOW.

    And the kicker is that I tried the beta app a while back and it DIDN'T WORK! So I will never test the beta. Good god how do I turn these notifications off?!

While you can postpone the update of the Dropbox application to the new Dropbox for macOS version, I'm afraid you'll have to do it at some point, otherwise the application won't work properly after a while.

I think I've seen this message 20 times over the last couple months, and I've answered \"No Thanks\" each time. The red notification dot is very attention-grabbing in the top right area of my work computer and each time I roll my eyes and click the No Thanks again.

If you *really* need beta testers, please email me. Maybe I can be persuaded. Either way, please consider stopping pushing these notifications every week.

so I had this problem until about now and resolved it with the help of support chat, so thought I'd post it here, 'cause ppl are still posting in this thread.

if you still has this issue and haven't resolved it first of all check your version (you can find it in preferences or just hovering over the icon in menu), if it's something like 173.3.6706 then you already running beta, the .3 tells it, stable has .4 in the version. if so, go to your general settings on the site (https://www.dropbox.com/account/general) find 'Early releases' section, turn it off.

after that quit your app, redownload stable from the site, reinstall, wait a minute (if you didn't turn off the option it's gonna update itself to beta and restart), check again that you're running .4 in the version.

everything should be fine now.

still don't know if I turned this option somehow a while ago or it was on by default.

This solved the issue with the endlessly recurring notification badge. Today, however, a new notification appeared prompting me to update to the new version. I do not want to update and the document linked below specifically says:

\"Note: While we recommend opting-in to the latest version of Dropbox for macOS, this migration isn’t required for you to continue using Dropbox.\"

The notification apparently cannot be dismissed.

Please fix this—allow the notification to be permanently dismissed (or make a clear statement that all users must update to continue using Dropbox.)

I'm sure I don't need to tell you but most people if not 99.999999999999999999999% of people that are running DropBox are running it on their production machines. Only a DropBox developer, or QA staff would run DropBox on a non-production machine. This is somewhat obvious to everyone, but not you, apparently!

Anyway, our files are precious to us, hence the reason for your company. Again you should know this already. Since our files are important to us, why on God's earth would anyone want to run your beta software on production machines that could potentially permanently destroy our files?

Have the beta option buried somewhere a developer could find after digging around. But for the love of all that is good, please don't prompt average users on their production machines to run you beta software.

We pay you a monthly fee to do QA for us. If you want us to do your QA, you pay us. My hourly rate starts at $200.

I totally agree with the other comments here: It is absolutelty unprofessional to ask its users within a real productionenvironment to run a beta test for them. Thats not only unprofessional it raises also questions about some kind of mindchange behind this service. Using this service since more than a decade now, i am considering to switch if this behaviour doesnt stopt NOW.

And the kicker is that I tried the beta app a while back and it DIDN'T WORK! So I will never test the beta. Good god how do I turn these notifications off?!
