Disaster: Dropbox removing external disk support for Mac users :(
In case anyone's unaware... if you're a Mac user storing your Dropbox on an external drive, you'll shortly lose that ability. https://talk.tidbits.com/t/dropbox-drops-support-for-storing-files-on...
- 4 months agoHi Everybody,We’re excited to share that external drive support for Dropbox for macOS on File Provider is now available for testing as a beta feature. This is available to some users today and will be available to additional users on a rolling basis. In order to be eligible to test this feature, please follow the instructions in this Help Center article.Keep in mind that participation in beta programs is subject to the certain terms and conditions. There are certain additional participation requirements:
- This beta is only available to US-based users
- You must be on macOS 15 beta
- You must have an external drive that is APFS formatted and encrypted
Please let me know if you have any further questions!

fjazzfjazz As I understand it, file sharing on Sync operates pretty much the same way as on Dropbox. Specifically:
If you simply want your team to be able to see and use a file, you can send them a link via email, message or Airdrop, and they will NOT need a Sync account. As Sync’s own FAQ states:
“The people you share with get instant access, no Sync account required, and you can control access with passwords, expiry dates, email notifications and more.”
However, if you want your team to be able to work on shared files and update them, you need a Sync Team account. The cost for 1 Terabyte of Team space is $6 a month per user, billed annually. Unlimited storage costs $15 a month per user, and you also get an administrator account, phone support and other perks.
Again, all this is similar to what’s offered by Dropbox, with different pricing. As of June 3, 2023, you can buy 5 Terabytes of Dropbox Team space for $15 a month per user, billed annually. Unlimited space for your Dropbox Team goes for you $24 a month per user, billed annually.
NOTE: My own needs are taken care of by individual accounts, so I can’t personally vouch for how well each service’s Team accounts work, but they appear to operate similarly.
fjazzfjazzif you or anyone else have any more questions, please let me know.

Thanks! Is there a minimum of users?

fjazzfjazz for teams on Sync.com? 2+. Look here [removed per the Community's Guidelines]
2 x tier pricing options for teams too so depending on whether you need a little or a lot there's options.
Overall I find them pretty good value for money but then again I only want 1 main thing, solid, reliable and secure data storage. You could count that as 3 but what I mean is no extra features beyond the core features (no paper, signing stuff, screen recording etc etc).
I want a system that you log in, upload and sync. Then can share with my team. This does it pretty simply but good. The current downside is that the cloud-only feature is still in beta but I'm sure that it'll come out of beta soon. I'm using it and it's been fine to date.

fjazzfjazz Can’t say for sure, but I don’t think so.
