Dropbox running out of space due to Backups - but I have none (and never activated)

Hi community,

hopefully someone of you could give me a hint or solution for the following problem: since days I get information about my out-of-space running Dropbox. At least I have a 21,75GB Box, but only ~800MB of data in it. I am housekeeping them regulary and so I'm a little confused about this space problem. Within the settings, I found some more information about the used space and the problem is obviously: 18.7GB of backups. But the question is: where could I find this backups and how to remove them? I already deleted the connected systems (were only my Desktop and my Android phone) but nothing changed. To repeat myself: I never used any backups deliberately, there must be a possibility to delete this stuff, but I can't find it...

Many thanks in advance for your help!
Christoph

  • Hi Bulletpr00f, no long usable , thanks for bringing this to our attention.

As it sounds like there's a backup on your account, you can view it from this page.

You should be able to delete or disable the backups from there to free up the quota on your account.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know!

      Hi Jay,

this was exactly the thing I was searching for! Many thanks!

There were 2 Backups from external hard drives (I can't even explain why...). I deleted them and... my space is like it has to be 🙂

      Again: many thanks!
