Reinstall Dropbox desktop app

The destop app is not syncing my files. How do I uninstall and reinstall the desktop app (MacOS  10.13.1)?

  • Hey faroutsider,

Thanks for reaching out about this.

To do this you need to make sure you save and quit ALL programs that access files in the Dropbox folder on your Mac first. Then , follow these steps:

              1. Download the newest version here.

              Then, stop Dropbox (If needed):

    • Click the Dropbox icon in the menu bar at the top of your screen
    • Click on the gear icon in the Notifications panel and select 'Quit Dropbox'
    • Delete the Dropbox application from the Applications folder. You may need to provide your computer password in order to perform this action.

      2. Reinstall the Dropbox desktop application

    • Open the Dropbox .dmg file and double click the Dropbox icon.
    • Dropbox should appear in your menu bar.

             I hope this helps.

This is not working for me.  My icon disappeared from my systems bar so could not sync.  Uninstalled DropBox.  When trying to reinstall, I get a fail with a different error message every time.  My computer updated last week or so - maybe that has something do to with it?

Sorry to hear that cpickle - could you share a screenshot of the exact error you get so I can get a better view of the matter at hand?

        Thanks!
