Uploading an updated file to keep the shared link active?

A week ago I uploaded a powerpoint file into dropbox. Today I updated that file. If I upload today's file into Dropbox with the same filename, will it replace the first file? Assuming so, will the li...

    Hi PeterHam, thanks for posting today!

     

    If you want to keep a shared link active, the best method is to upload the updated file directly onto the Dropbox site, in the same location and filename as the previous file.

     

    If you have the Dropbox desktop application running, and the file is in the Dropbox folder, generally, saving the file is considered an update too, which should keep the link. However, certain programs during the saving process might delete the original, and then save the update, thus losing the link.
