Password for shared file not requested
Hi! Probably I am ignoring something blatantly obvious so apologies in advance.
I have business standard plan. I want to share the content of a new folder with somebody from an external company so ...

Did you send them a shared link, which would require the password, or did you invite them to the folder? If you sent them an invitation, then you're adding them as a member of the folder which will require a Dropbox account, but won't require the password. The password is only required when you send a shared link.
