My boss is trying to share a folder with me, but I can't upload anything to the folder.
My boss has a subscription to the Plus plan. I am on the free/basic version.
I just sat with him while he shared his screen, and checked all the settings. We have tried:

I am logged in, I can't see the upload or create subfolder buttons. Here is what I see:
If I click the first two, it says "I don't have enough storage space"

However, shared folders use up the quota of all involved. So your bosses increased quota will not benefit you. If the folder is over your 2gb allowance you need to upgrade.

Mark is correct. The screenshot you shared is the web preview of the contents. That is the same view that a "view link" would provide, except that it would not offer the option to "Join Folder".
In order to upload additional content to the shared folder, add subfolders, or otherwise edit the folder or its contents, you must join the folder. This will make you a member of the folder (i.e. a collaborator) with editor permissions (because of the edit link you visited).However, joining the folder counts against your Basic Plan storage quota. This adds the folder to your Dropbox as a shared folder with you as an editor and your boss as the folder owner. It sounds like your the folder you are attempting to join is more than your 2GB allotment on the Basic plan, which is why you are unable to join. In this instance you would also need to upgrade in order to collaborate with your boss. Probably not the answer you were hoping for, but I hope this at least clarifies the situation.
