JPEG EXIF Comments Missing after uploading them

OK, I think I know what the problem is. It has nothing to do with Dropbox. It's a MacOS Finder issue. Data in the "Comments" field for a file on MacOS is apparently stored in a separate, hidden file and when the main file is moved, that hidden file can be lost. That is what apparently happened in my situation.
Thank you anyway for your help.

Hi Dave B.5, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Did you upload these files manually via the site, desktop app or mobile app? Or, did you use the automatic camera uploads feature?
Were the comments added after the image was taken, or during the photo process?
This will help me to assist further!

The JPEG images were uploaded via the Finder extension on my Mac OS computer. The comments were added to the EXIF data after the images were taken. The JPEG were actually scans of photos.

Hey Dave B.5. From which platform are you accessing these files now, and the data no longer shows?
Also, when the info was added previously, were you able to see it on all Dropbox platforms?
