Good evening, I have tried many solutions suggested by this forum to get the result of having a copy of the files present on the cloud also on an external mac disk but without success (permissions, formatting the APFS drive encrypted and not, mac os extended). The disk where the operating system resides is 250GB and is not sufficient to also contain the dropbox files. currently my operating system is sequoia 15.3.2 si imac retina 5k 2020. do you have any solutions?25Views0likes3CommentsI can no longer accept an invite with an alternate account.
Hello, I've been using Dropbox for probably 15 years. I've been using my account since it had just a few MB and recall doing Dropquest yearly to pick up a few more. You can say I am attached to this account. That said, I pay for Dropbox Plus these days. This is a personal account, however, I got my employer to start using it as well (though we do not pay for Teams or Business, just multiple Plus accounts). My account is a mix of personal contents (camera uploads) and work shared folders. When dealing with folders from 3rd party work associates, they used to send me invites to my work email address (which has no Dropbox account), and if I clicked on that invite, the invite would approve within my personal account. I assume this is because I had the link. It didn't matter if this was a shared folder or just a single file or just view permissions. At some point in the past year or two, this all changed. It may have been longer ago, I can't remember. Now, when someone invites me to a shared folder at my work account and I follow the link, my only option is to Request Access with my personal account. Why is this? Is there a way I can add my work email address as an alias for my personal Dropbox account? I do not want two Dropbox accounts... and the approach that is presented when Dropbox tries to make me a 2nd account is all wrong. Two accounts would be acceptable in the future ONLY if sync could be aggregated or carefully managed. I don't want two sync clients running. What are my options here? And what changed?16Views0likes1CommentDropbox icon constantly reports "Indexing 4 files..."
I deleted all files in my personal Dropbox account, then moved a couple gigs of files into it from my work Dropbox account. It took a little while to move the files but has been completed for a couple days but I have a persistent working icon showing and it says "Indexing 4 files...". How do I determine which files it is supposedly still indexing, or if it is just hung up for some reason? I told it to show me any Sync issues and it says I have no sync issues. I have quit/restarted several times. Running Windows10.45Views0likes5CommentsI made my files online-only, but they're still taking up hard drive space.
My hard drive is full so I set all files to online only. How do I get the files off my local hard drive to open up storage on my hard drive? As is try to follow instructions on the help pages my Dropbox app doesn't show my avatar in the upper right corner, so I don't see Preferences. I have right clicked on the Dropbox in file explored and clicked on "manager hard dive space" to put all files to "online only" but the disk drive space doesn't free up.57Views0likes13CommentsSupport online-only files for ARM (Snapdragon) processors
We are currently unable to use Dropbox on Windows Surface Pro Devices with Snapdragon Processors as they do not allow for Online-Only files. This causes the entirety of their files to sync to the device and renders the device unusable as all disk space is consumed.67Views2likes5CommentsSpring Clean your Desktop with Dropbox 🌸

The ability to preserve, view, sort by, etc the original Creation Dates(and other metadata) of files is missing or severely limited in the Dropbox mobile apps. People who don’t use Dropbox primarily for business purposes on a computer but, as many of us do these days, use our smartphones as our primary(or only) method of keeping track of media/documents/audio files/etc are having to deal with the frustrating situation of trying and failing to backup/reorganize/download to another mobile device/etc our files without losing this extremely important file metadata. I can’t even view ANY file information on non-photo files, and the photos are difficult to even upload with a title that reflects the actual creation date. If not uploaded at a painful 1 image at a time (and many times not even then) the file name will be changed to the upload date/time. The creation date is ALWAYS listed as the upload time or the last time that it was moved, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc. There’s no sort by CREATION date, only sort by Modification date which is just a complete denial of basic file management for those of us who manage all of our files on mobile phones and tablets. We desperately need full file information accessibility for Dropbox mobile apps… ESPECIALLY the ability to preserve and sort by the ORIGINAL file creation dates… and to not lose access to those creation dates when moved, renamed, downloaded, re-uploaded, etc, but to keep them intact despite all modifications. Creation dates and modification dates can be preserved separately without sacrificing one for the other, as long as the files’ metadata remains intact.6KViews21likes24Comments
