Currently, when I send a client a link to download a file using the Dropbox share file functionality, they are directed to a preview page. When they click the Download button, they are presented with a dialog box prompting them to sign in or sign up for Dropbox. At the bottom of this dialog box, in text that more closely resembles a legal disclaimer, they are given the option to download without signing up. As a paid user, I cannot entertain this dark UI feature. If I need to provide clients with an instruction manual on how to work around a dark UI feature, then it makes me look really cheap and really hacky. Not only does it make me look bad, but it's also a really nasty look for the Dropbox brand.16Views0likes2CommentsRemove advertising popup modals from paid plans.
Hey Dropbox team! I know popup modals are all the rage on websites these days. You know where a user goes to a website, starts looking for a thing, and then BAM the most important thing that the marketing team wants them to see pops up and interrupts their flow? So today, I went to look for a file to fire off to a client and that happens to me...IN MY DROPBOX USER PORTAL (I have paid plan) midway through typing a word! How tacky is that? (hint: incredibly tacky). And to make things even wilder, when I was venting about this to Dropbox support (I know, no one over there listens or cares, but if I'm going to be distracted from a simple task, I should really go all out, right?), the support staff (who hadn't actually read my complaint) sent me to a help center article about email notifications (that's how I know they didn't read it). Before I could get a sentence into the topic, BOOM, another modal! This one asking me how satisfied I was with the help center. So I ask, is disrupting users from using the product somehow beneficial to business? Are you getting qualitative survey responses by posing the question before the user could possibly have formulated an answer? My suggestion: stop making my paid experience reel like some amateur-hour-free-tier garbage. I know you can do better.10Views0likes1CommentHow do I contact Dropbox Support?
The Dropbox support website is driving me mad. I've been going round in circles on the site but can't find any way to use the email or chat options for support. It helpfully keeps reminding me: Your Plus plan includes access to our Help Center, Community, Chatbot, Email and Chat. How can I contact support? (I've not been able to find a solution here in the community.)Solved22Views0likes2CommentsCannot open downloaded Zip due to "Unable to expand (file name).zip into Downloads (Error 2)
I am trying to download photos from my photographer's Dropbox account to my external hard drive. When I try to open the Zip (which shows size 7.53GB), I receive this error: "Unable to expand (file name).zip into Downloads (Error 2 - No such file or directory.)" I see that many other people have this issue. How can it be resolved?5KViews0likes7CommentsI'm using DuckDuckGo to access Dropbox, but it defaults to a new account.
Odd situation here. Bought a new computer, Windows 11, and have had trouble getting Dropbox operating properly. Since the computer was new, it wiped out the old register and settings. I have three devices I transfer Dropbox information among: an iPad, a laptop, and--most importantly-- my new desktop Win 11 computer. Everything is fine on my iPad and laptop. I was able to get my new desktop to find my account (long used a free one with 6.25GB --being 87 years old that's all I need) by installing and using the Firefox browser. However, whenever I use DuckDuckGo (or use LastPass, which is the default browser that LastPass uses) to try and access Dropbox I am set up with "new" account of 2GB. What??? My current account will share 3 devices and previous desktop was one of the three. Can't seem to fix this. By the way I am Dropbox client 2124.4.5767 Any help, please? Gary41Views0likes4CommentsFile manager view on the Dropbox site
I would much prefer to have the files and folders presented in a file manager tree view rather than having half of the screen taken up with preview thumbnails of recent files. The current layout is frustrating to work with, especially when working collaboratively as it encourages poor file management practices. I want my Dropbox interface to be clear and functional, not fun.123Views1like4CommentsCan't access dropbox website on laptop
Hi there, I'm unable to access dropbox.com on my laptop, which is connected to my home WiFi. I have tried various browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) to no avail. I don't have a problem accessing the website on my phone, which is also connected to my home network, so I reckon that rules out a network issue. The error I get on Chrome says: "This website can't be reached. www.dropbox.com refused to connect. ERR_CONNECTION_Refuses" I've searched the forum but none of the suggestions have helped. Hope someone can! Thanks.Solved4.5KViews0likes11CommentsI tried to upload a folder via file request, but nothing happened. Has it been uploaded?
I have received a file request from another user, to upload a folder into his storage "area". I got the email, clicked the link, and got a window with a file submission area. I pressed the upload button. There was no response, no "upload started" or "progress" message. I cannot tell if the folder is being uploaded or has been uploaded. Eventually I can ask the requester if he got the files, but that is potentially a tedious back-and-forth process (especially if the upload failed, or didn't even start). Is there a way for the non-requester to verify that the file is being uploaded?26Views0likes2CommentsNothing happens when I click on the "Create" button to open a file request.
I have been trying for a couple of days to create a new file request but it's not working. Once you click 'Create' the thinking spinning wheel never completes. Tried different folders, tried over multiple days. Google Chrome. nothing... It wont let me link to a screenshot sorry9Views0likes1Comment"That didn't work for some reason" error; I can't open my shared link.
I have a shared link to a gaming document that I've been using for a while. However, every time I've tried to use the link over the pass couple of days, I get the message shown below. I've refreshed the page, used different browsers, cleared my cache, but nothing seems to work. I've had others test the link and they've been able to use it just fine, so I don't believe the document has been delete. Does anyone know how I might be able to access it again?Solved45Views0likes10Comments
