I'm having problems with Dropbox on my PC running Windows 10. I need to uninstall and reinstall but nothing I try allows me to uninstall Dropbox. I tried the traditional ways and got the 'uninstallation failed' prompt every time. I also went into the Program folder and tried the Dropbox Uninstaller app there. Didn't work. What else might I try?4.7KViews0likes16CommentsCan't open the desktop app and getting an error when trying to uninstall
Hi Guys, Been having troubles with getting dropbox open thats sent me down a rabbit hole four hours. I'm essentially experiencing the exact same issue the user in this forum is experiencing: Can't seem to be able to uninstall Dropbox | The Dropbox Community I'm seeing an event in EventViewer whenever the DbxSvc restarts: Failed to connect to the driver: (-2147024894) The system cannot find the file specified. , retrying... Uninstalling Dropbox will get to about 70% of the way before freezing indefinitely. Tried a manual uninstall using RevoUninstall which clears out all files and registry items, although I have to kill Explorer.exe and dllhost.exe before doing so as it keeps getting stuck on a DLL file. Tried reinstalling, the installation will often say failed or get stuck so I have to go and manually clear new files again. Went to try and install via MS Store, which works fine, but doesn't I can see in that last forum DropBox ended up speaking with the user directly, is anyone on dropboxes team able to tell me what the outcome was?Solved77Views0likes6CommentsI want to delete dbkextd, but I'm unable to uninstall Dropbox from my macOS 15.3.1.
Tried to follow steps to uninstall DroBox from my MacBook Pro 16 running iOS 15.3.1. Received notification that DroBox is still running and can't be unistalled? How do I resolve this? I am following these steps to uninstall the Dropbox desktop app completely (https://help.dropbox.com/installs/uninstall-dropbox) and then continue with the advanced reinstallation steps (https://help.dropbox.com/installs/advanced-reinstall). I have to delete the app from my Mac to free up space, and will be using the online version from now on. once I delete the app, will my files be deleted from the online version as well? I used Dropbox Backup yesterday. I just need to know that my files on the web version will be safe once I uninstall the app.36Views0likes1CommentMy macOS system data is now 890GB after uninstalling Dropbox from my computer.
iMac 5K 27", 2020. macOS Sequoia 15.3. Was using Dropbox for File Providers, latest build I uninstalled Dropbox from this device yesterday. Deleted the dropbox folder The "system data" section of my macOS Settings panel for Storage is now in the 890 GB neighborhood. It's never this high. I've run a few other tools to get a feel for extraneous libraries, apps, caches, etc. but I can find no trace of what would be causing System Data to be almost half of the 2 TB capacity of the drive. It wasn't this high before I removed Dropbox, either. So I'm wondering if maybe I didn't correctly delete the files that were saved locally (few were online-only). 800GB is somewhere in the ballpark of how much Dropbox content I had stored locally. Is there a trick to getting rid of the File Provider version of Dropbox and all local copies of the files? It was significantly easier before the File Provider restrictions.80Views1like3CommentsThe Dropbox desktop application will no longer be supported for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 on October 22nd
Congratulations Dropbox! You've just put the nail in the coffin of all W7 users who prefer not to be spied on and constantly used for data scraping! Well done. If the constant scaremonger nagging about running out of space, the constant begging to upgrade, the incessant app updating demands, the constant USB device interrogation upon connection wasn't enough of an incentive to finally ditch Dropbox for good, then the cutting off of users of a still perfectly good and functional, non-spyware infested OS will be the last straw. Thank you Dropbox for giving me the incentive to go to your competitors instead and get out of your ever more bloated crapware ecosystem. Sometimes, people need a little push to get away from what's comfortable and familiar, even though they suspect just how bad that relationship is for them. I thank you Dropbox for giving me this little push. Goodbye.7.4KViews9likes28Comments2017 iMac Ventura stuck in "connecting components" after trying to upgrade to new file system

Hello, To Computers in an Office were suddenly not opening Dropbox. They are both on Windows 11. There is a 3rd PC in the Office that is the same as 1 of the problem ones, and its working fine. I tried to uninstall the apps from them, but both said "Uninstall Failed". I ended up having to manually wipe and use a Program to find and force full removal to start fresh. I did a DISM and SFC, then a CHKDSK. I proceeded to reinstall, and both get an error code unknown error (Error: -1073741795). I tried to use download and user the Full Installer Version. Nothing. To help with any conflicts, I did a clean boot. Nothing. I can seem to install anymore. They are AIO PC's, one is a Lenovo, the other a HP. As mentioned, there is a 3rd PC that is the same HP Model, and Dropbox works fine. I can't seem to find straight answers on how to resolve this, I am supporting someone else, so don't know how that will go since I have to pay for a subscription to get live support. Don't know how to proceed, so I hope a community member knows exactly whats up and how to resolve this.123Views0likes7CommentsUnlink Dropbox on laptop and relink to another account (OSX)
I am logged into a dropbox account on my laptop (desktop app) and should leave this account to connect to an other account. When I sign out of the first account under preferences in the desktop app, the app closes. When opening the app again, I'm automatically logged into the same account again. How can I connect to the second account? Even de-installing and re-installing the desktop app did not fix this. Any idea why this happens and how to solve it? Thanks for all your input, TomSolved240Views0likes6Comments
