Sync
4875 TopicsI can't open my desktop app settings, so that I can move my Dropbox folder to an external drive.
This has been happening since my last computer... What I would like to do is sync my dropbox to save to my external drive; however, I cannot access the dropbox app to go to sync settings and trying to simply move it doesn't work. Settings for this are not avaiable online and im worried that if i uninstall the app I'll lose all my saved folders that I've pinned on my computer (which i guess I can just re add) I've tried looking at my antivirus software as well, but that didn't help as dropbox doesn't seem to be blocked. this would free up a ton of storage, so please help!35Views0likes3CommentsThe app re-indexes all files after each restart on Mac.
Each time I restart my Mac, Dropbox goes through reindexing of (seemingly) all files in my folder. The Mac's CPU usage goes up and the fan kicks in - it makes the computer slow for at least 15 minutes. It does finally complete, but it would obviously be much better if this did not happen.13Views0likes3CommentsI've installed the Dropbox for Windows update and now I can't make my files offline anymore.
I just got "upgraded" to the newest version of the Dropbox client for Windows, v213.3.4480. After it did the upgrade, it told me that there was some "new update" for Windows, so (perhaps stupidly) I went ahead and agreed to it. Now, all Dropbox files no longer have a status overlay on the icon, but there is a new column in Windows File Explorer that indicates file status. In essence, it appears they've separated the overlay and assigned them their very own column. The new application gave me a quick "tour" of the new "overlay" icons that have been separated out, which appear to be much the same as the ones that were originally overlaid, just larger and in a separate column. My problem, now, is that everything is coming up "Available," but not "Available Offline" as I originally had them set prior to the upgrade. I never asked Dropbox to change this attribute in any form or fashion, and I didn't give it permission to. I have plenty of space on my HDD, so I can assure you it's not an issue of lacking space. There was otherwise no need to change this attribute. Your help article says that if I want to change the file's availability to "Available Offline" (solid green circle/white check), then I need to go to the file(s) and right-click on them for a context menu and select "Make available offline." The problem is that this item does not exist in the context menu for files in my Dropbox. So, folks, how do I undo Dropbox' wanton disregard for my preference and get it back the way I want it? An answer to this, I feel, is categorically warranted. I await. (I'd upload screenshots, but this forum won't allow uploads, it seems.)70Views0likes6CommentsAfter using the Apple Migration Assistant, I ended up with two Dropbox folders.
I have used Apple's Migration Assistant to move all my content from one Mac to a new Mac. I keep all of my Dropbox files on my computer, so all my Dropbox files are transferred to the new Mac. Now Dropbox is creating a new Dropbox folder and downloading all of my files. How should I best handle this?47Views0likes6CommentsIs there a way to have my Dropbox sync between a certain time frame?
I'm looking for a solutions for one of my coworkers. His issue is that when he compiles code dfuring the hours of 8am-5pm he doesn't want the drop box to try and sync open files that he's working on. Is there a soulution or method to have the sync to happen at 5pm and then shut down the app at 7am the following morning?13Views0likes1CommentAre symlinks from the Dropbox folder supported or not?
This page: https://help.dropbox.com/sync/symlinks last updated last September says symlinks are supported. Yet when I create a link in my Dropbox folder pointint outside, only the link gets synced [an entry for it that cannot be opened appears on the web], but not the link contents. Is that article wrong or am I doing something wrong? This is on Linux.16Views0likes4CommentsHow to reset my camera uploads, I tried everything
Hi! I need to force the Android app to re-upload all the photos in my gallery. I set it up so it uploads everything, not just new photos, but it will only upload new items. I believe it recognizes older pics as "already uploaded" and I don't know how to reset this. I have already: -re-installed the app -deleted the cache memory -deleted all files in the Dropbox camera upload folder -restarted the device -even tried from a new device with a different SD card but with the same files in it Still, Dropbox will only upload new files. I also tried manually uploading but due to the fíes being cover 1500, the app never stops processing the files and never uploads anything. I'm on Android 12 and no other apps are set toSolved7KViews1like74CommentsMac backup 0% complete, 'Backup now' is grey, says will complete in 1 sec but no movement.
I noticed Dropbox Backup today, looks good for my needs as a long time solo user w/ a 2TB account. Selected documents and music folders in my Mac user account, all looked OK then....nothing, no movement. Stuck at 0% even though it says updating 2,367 files and 1 sec remaining. Nothing, nada. I've rebooted, removed the external drive I wanted to also backup, re-installed Dropbox, no other cloud service-connected files are present in anything I want to backup, tried automatic backups on and off....but nothing. The 'Backup now' is also greyed out whatever I do. I've looked at various Db help pages but nothing. Any ideas appreciated. Also why no Backup label?
