File access
518 TopicsWhy don't we see dates on folders
Explanation: Why dont we see dates on Folders, this is kinda destroys propper workflow. When i compare files, i need to make sure im using last ones. We can compare this properly offlone. The folder dont show any meta data for modified or created. This issue is visible when online as well in mobile app. Perhaps it's another limitation off free plan? Something changed over the last couple of months. I have hundreds of JPEG photos of sheet music I made and stored in Dropbox, with each jpeg saved in the Dropbox app on my iPad to be viewable off-line so that I can access them while I perform. After many years of using it this way, very abruptly something changed and my stored offline jpegs and folders are no longer viewable on my iPad if I don’t have Internet access. They all still have the blue icon illuminated indicating they are stored to my app for offline viewing but if the internet goes, everything vanishes if I’m in a remote area without internet or cell service I can no longer access any of the images that are stored in the app for offline use ; this is a brand new issue after using Dropbox to do this for over a decade. is there something I can fix in settings? Or was something changed permanently about the iPad app?23Views0likes4CommentsIs it possible Dropbox deleted my photos due to inactivity/being over-quota?
Hello, Has dropbox at anytime removed/deleted photos due to low storage or not accessing dropbox w/in a certain time frame? I have dropbox accounts under two separate email addresses. One has photos and the other does not. I created them so that I could put photos on them so Im a bit confused why Id have an account and no photos and I seem to think the 2nd account had photos. Is there anywhere I can check as to the history? What could have happened to my photos? I did look through some articles and didnt really understand them...other than asking if the photos stored on DropBox are somehow connected to our PC's? There was something mentioned about syncing them. I only recall adding photos to drop box as a storage device. idk honestly. Thanks for any information you can provide.23Views0likes6CommentsEnable create and rename folders/files on MacOS Dropbox application for admin users
After a recent dropbox update, at the top level, admin users are unable to create and rename files on their desktop dropbox application for Mac users (OS version: Sequoia 15.3.2). This slight change has made it more of a hassle to use the desktop app, it makes it appear obsolete to be honest. My team needs a number of folders to created frequently as we get new cases quite frequently. After the new update, as the admin user, I have to navigate to my web browser in order to create a folder and then come back to my desktop app to add all the relevant documents into that folder. If I make a mistake in the name of the folder, I can't change the name of the folder I have to go back to web browser, find the folder and then change it from there. It is such that even as an admin user on my computer, when I go to unlock the folder at the top level to give me read and write access, it automatically switches back as it is something that has been enabled from the software and not the user end. I could see the justification for having this restriction for non-admin users but for admin users whose job description requires the creation and modification of top level files, it has added an additional step in work flow that is cumbersome. In the past, all these could be done directly from the desktop app. I would like to request that the feature be put back as it was. The new change is not user friendly at all.40Views1like2CommentsOriginal account login lost after signing in with Google
Hello, I'm no longer able to access my original Dropbox account, which has an email-based login. I was able to access this account a few hours ago until I mistakenly accessed Dropbox using the Google-based login. As the Google login used the same email as my original email-based account, now every time I log in using email and password I can only see the Google-based account. It looks like this has replaced my original account, and all files are missing. All of this despite logging out and trying many times to reset the password. I have found other posts created by users with the same problem, but none of them seem to have a solution explained in the thread. Thanks in advance!20Views0likes3CommentsShared link to folder from Quickbase channel takes me to empty folder
I am using the Quickbase Dropbox channel to create a folder and upload files to that folder. I then get the Share URL using the Quickbase Dropbox channel and save it in a Quickbase table. I can see the folder and its files when I log into my Dropbox account. But when I use the Share URL in my browser, I get a screen showing the folder name but that it is empty. I need to see the files also.Solved34Views0likes2CommentsOnline-only not working in Surface Pro 11 (Snapdragon version)
Recently I went back to Dropbox having read that it now works with Snapdragon Windows versions, but currently I have a significant issue. I cannot have any online-only file in my SP11, thus I cannot have all Dropbox files in my device. I have this in the main DP screen: Then I go to "Manage hard disk space", select folders and make online-only. In less than a second I get the message they are online-only, but they aren't. Any idea how to solve this? Thanks in advance.527Views2likes21CommentsOpen dropbox file/folder links open on desktop
Hi there. Love Dropbox. I moved our whole team to it from Google Drive much to all of our delight. The one hiccup that keeps coming up (was also an issue with Drive, but would be a game changing new feature from DB) is sharing links. Our team uses the desktop app to work with files directly in finder, but we share links to files and folders on slack and in email, etc... Right now we click a link, it opens the browser as expected, we find the file path in browser and then follow that path in finder. That seems like an awful lot of work when we have a direct connection between our finder and dropbox in the app. Perhaps the website could provide a link that connects to the desktop app, opening the folder/file in finder or windows explorer. Seems like a reasonable option to me, but what do others think?23Views0likes1CommentDamaged files on the Dropbox desktop app on MacOS Sequoia
Several pdf files stored in my DropBox account are listed as having 0kb files sizes when viewing them on desktop. I am unable to open them in a browser or Acrobat. Via dropbox.com, these same files are fine - downloadable and viewable, etc. There is no issue with file size constraints - all files are well within this account's storage capacity. I have removed and re-installed the desktop app with no change to the above. This is on OSX Sequoia. Any insight into why this is occuring would be helpful. It's a basic account, so Dropbox punts on technical support.Solved63Views0likes4Comments
