Hi there, A specific USB stick was being automatically backed up on Dropbox every time I inserted it to my previous laptop. Now that I changed to a new laptop, I want this back up process with that specific USB stick to continue in the same way it was, when I insert it to my new laptop. How can I manage this? Thanks in advance for your answer. BestSolved44Views0likes4CommentsCan't open Dropbox on new macOS Sequoia 15.2 - it does't respond and closes
I've downloaded the latest Software version for Mac Os. I Install, and try to open from apps and then menu bar. Dropbox does not respond then closes. Tried a complete uninstall reinstall and same thing. Any solutions?91Views0likes9CommentsDropbox needs to change permissions for the Folder...
Mid-December, my Mac updated to the latest OS. macOS Sequoia 15.2 (24C101). Since then, Dropbox needs to change permissions for the Folder: /Users/ ############/.dropbox every time I restart my Mac and a few times throughout the day. I have tried to check every permission possible to no avail. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox with admin privileges. Any ideas to resolve this small annoyance? I have 2TB of Dropbox for my Photo Albums (and have had for many years). All folders were synchronised to my laptop but a mix of online and offline. My laptop has circa 1TB free. Last month Dropbox updated the Dropbox App and all files were removed from my PC. I have added the Dropbox app back to my machine and there is not room to add all of my files. Using selective sync I can add files to my HDD but when I set them to online only to free up disc space they continue to exist on my HDD. The white tick on solid green background turns to a green tick on white background (like they are online only) but they are still on my HDD. If I use the 'Manage hard drive space' the app will allow me to select the files and allow me to make them online only. The dark blue area of the used space bar reduces and I get the message; "All offline files were successfully moved to online-only, Nice!" But no hard drive space is freed. If you run 'Manage hard drive space' again the offline files are all back. You can make them offline repeatedly but when checking they are still there - even though the icon is green tick on white background (so they should be online). If you go into airplane mode the online only files are still on my HDD. I know I am not the only person having this problem. I have seen lots of people with similar problems and I cannot see any satisfactory explanation / solution.63Views0likes8CommentsDropbox Sync Time Remaining Isn't Showing on macOS
OS and Version: macOS Sequoia 15.2 (issue persists from earlier versions) Dropbox Version: Latest update as of today. Dropbox business customer. I’m encountering an issue with Dropbox for macOS using File Provider. When downloading files, the sync time remaining is never displayed. This makes it challenging to gauge how long the process will take, leading to a frustrating user experience. This issue has been ongoing for quite some time, spanning multiple macOS and Dropbox versions, so it doesn’t appear to be tied exclusively to the latest update. Others at my company are also having the same issue. I am regularly syncing a large amount of files as I run a video production company, often times up to 2 TB or so. Steps to Reproduce: Attempt to download files through Dropbox for macOS (File Provider). Observe that there’s no visible indication of sync time remaining. Expected Behavior: The sync time remaining should be displayed, allowing users to estimate when downloads will complete. Actual Behavior: The sync time is not shown, leaving users without any progress estimation. Additional Notes: Here's an image of the issue.27Views0likes4CommentsFile request option when right-clicking a file on macOS is no longer available
This issue has been reported previously on the following link but is now closed to any further responses. This is an important feature that has been removed without notice or explanation. I have tried to post the hyperlink to the previous discussion, but you are not allowing this either. Please provide an update. Good evening, On one of my computers, a Linux computer (Zorin OS 17 Pro based on Ubuntu 18.04), the Dropbox application is stuck on “Start” and therefore no longer synchronizes my dropbox. Thanks in advance, Sincerely, Hervé28Views0likes2CommentsHow to return all files to offline?
I was having sync troubles so to save hard drive space I went to App/Preferences/Manage and selected all to be online. According to the app “…saves hard drive space. Files will still appear on your computer…”. But now the list is empty, and I can't figure how to return them to offline. Dropbox is not behaving according to your help files. All files sync but the online/offline/sync icons are not working, all files are either completely on my computer or not. (Backup works ok, the files sync but are completely on my computer - but that's how Backup works.) I have tried: Fresh install - restart - force quit in Activity Monitor - restarted Finder - no solution.65Views0likes19CommentsCan't delete Dropbox folders; they reappear after deletion
I've tried to delete a few folders in my Dropbox, but every time I do they reappear shortly after I delete them. Shortly as in, I don't have time to go to the trash folder on my computer or the deleted files section on the Dropbox website to click and delete them. I've followed all the suggested solutions and nothing works. I've checked the permissions; they are all labeled "Only Me." So I should be able to delete them...nope. I've checked to see if it's still syncing; it is not. Many of the folders are from a range of 1 - 7 months ago. I've deleted everything in the deleted files folder on the Dropbox site, but those folders are never in there to be able to delete because they restore immediately. Tried to clear the cache, but the directions to use the command in the Finder on Mac did not work. A cache folder never appeared after I used Command + Shift + . (period). Checked previous versions to see which device is restoring the file; it's my computer. I still tried deleting it from other computers as well as my own...nothing. I tried contacting support, but it just gives me a chat box that links me back to the SAME articles I referenced for the previous steps. OR directs me to this Community Forum in which people are having the same issues as me. According to a couple of replies from the Dropbox Team, they can't go in and delete files from their end either. It's absolutely ridiculous. This is a newspaper and we use these folders (organized by date) to keep track of files for upcoming editions. I cannot delete, at this point 3 folders (up from 1 persistent one that I've been trying to delete for 7 MONTHS). It's getting cluttered and confusing in the Dropbox and it's becoming more of a hassle than anything. You never know when a file or folder is actually going to delete or not. What is even the point of having an application that only works when you need to add something, but not delete? Might as well use the Google Drive at this point.38Views0likes1CommentOpen shared links directly in native app
A few years have passed since this request and as a business this would save us allot of time and irritation. As a company we share daily hundreds of links to files via Microsoft Teams with each other. Now the situation is as follow: 1 link is shared 2 team member clicks on the link 3 browser opens the link to the file 4 user clicks on 'open in dropbox' button Ideal situation would be that admins and users have a File open preference, where links to files can directly open in the native apps: 1 link is shared 2 team member clicks on it and the file is synced and opened in the native app Microsoft Teams has a great solution to this problem for Office-applications, called File open preference, see screenshot. It would be great if Dropbox could also build this feature in it's Dropbox-apps.8.2KViews17likes6Comments
