I'm totally baffled! I appear to be paying for a service I'm not receiving. I joined Dropbox over a year ago, but realised only recently that nothing was being backed-up. My son, who is far more tech savvy than I am, thought he'd got it sorted. I could find my files in Backup - but they'd disappeared from my computer. Why? It's a Back-up, not a wipe clean! So over the holiday we tried again, as none of the recent files were backed-up. This time the files and folders which I'd had to recreate were Backed-up and remained on my computer BUT all the previously backed-up files and folders had disappeared from the Back-up - and this included 10 years work in my Family History Files. Where are they? They weren't even in the deleted folder! I'm now in a worse mess than if I'd never joined. What is going on? Dropbox (DB) periodically stops syncing but there are no firewall nor network issues. I just find out that files have not been updated despite my working online for hours with no issues. This is not a firewall issue either. I can uninstall and reinstall the desktop app and things work again...for a while. Inevitably the sync fails eventually. On occasion I can stop the DB processes with Task Manager then restart the app and the sync SOMETIMES starts again. But just now I tried that and it didn't work. Likely I'll either have to re-start or more likely uninstall and reinstall the app. Anyone else have this problem, and if so, did you resolve it? I can't figure this out. I have synced folders with hundreds of images. It's essential to be able to view the thumbnails. When I moved to a new laptop (mac), I now can not make the thumbnails show, it's just the generic icon. This is not a problem with my finder, all local items have thumbnails. This is not a problem on my previous computer (using the same OS). I have selected all items and made them "available offline" which got rid of the grey clouds, but still no thumbnails. I have a new computer that came with dropbox installed on it and I had never used it. Recent twice a day (once at 1:08pm and once at 1:08am) I get files in the locationin C:\Program files(x86)\Dropbox\Temp These take up about 900MB. I have deleted them and they return each day. I have uninstalled and reinstalled dropbox and the files continue to be made. I only have a 256GB hard drive so this causes my C: drive to fill up rather quickly. I used to be able to initiate a "Request Files" by right clicking on the file I wanted the documents to go into. This is more efficient that having to go to the web version, as I 99.9% work out of the File Explorer on my PC.
