Scrolling folders in mobile app

It used to be that you could quickly access folders using the alphabet down the side in the mobile app. This has been changed. Now, if you tap any of the letters you are taken straight to the bottom of the page. I have a folder with approximately 1000 subfolders. It’s quite irritating having to manually scroll down the list to get to, say, the folders beginning with M. This was an extremely useful feature, when it existed. Why remove it? Mega and Sync at lease have a bar you can use to quickly scroll down. Dropbox doesn’t even have this feature.

Hey Simonp0123, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Can you please clarify your device's OS and the version of our mobile app installed there as well?

Have you cleared the app's cache since you first noticed this issue?

Let me know and we'll take it from there.

      Hi Walter
I’m using iOS 15.7 and the latest version of the app. This problem has persisted for for maybe a couple of years (at least one year, anyway). I haven’t cleared the app’s cache so I’ll give that a go.

Clearing the cache doesn’t make any difference

      Hi Walter
I’m not going through all this again. I e explained it several times now. I’ve gone through all the suggestions several times as well. The issue is that Dropbox developers have removed the ability to tap the letters of the alphabet to quickly access folders lower down. For example, if I want to go the a folder beginning with M, I tap M but I’m taken straight to the bottom, to Z. Even if I tap B I’m taken to Z. This feature needs to be reinstated. It has nothing to do with my phone. I’m fed up with having to trawl through hundreds of folders to get to the one I want. I’m also tired of trying to explain the issue. Dropbox used to work very well for me but now it doesn’t.

Hi Simonp0123, out of curiosity: have you tried uninstalling the Dropbox app on your mobile, then re-installing it?

Also, how are you sorting your folders (name, last modified, size or type)?

      Hi Megan

I haven’t tried uninstalling then reinstalling. I shall try this later when I get home.
My folders are all sorted by name.

    Hi Simonp0123, take your time!

Once you've tried uninstalling the app, let me know of the results and we'll take it from there. Thank you, Simon!

      Hi Megan

This doesn’t work either. I still get taken to the very bottom of the list regardless of which letter I tap

      Hi Megan,

I’ve been a Dropbox user for several years and I’ve had this issue for as long as I can remember. I’ve owned a few phones over the last couple of years (latest iPhones) and always had this same issue.
It is surprising that this has not been resolved yet!
Just out of curiosity why not trouble shoot the step on your own device to confirm if this is a Dropbox issue rather than ask us to do so many trouble shooting steps?

Dropbox told me that this feature had been removed some time ago. It seems it is upto me to suggest to the relevant people that it be reinstated. I don’t know why this can’t be done by the person who contacted me from Dropbox! Talk about lazy! So, I have decided that I’m going to stop using Dropbox. I have started to transfer all my files into my OneDrive account. At least with this I am able to use a scroll bar to quickly locate the files I want. With OneDrive I have, effectively, 6TB of storage (though I have to use different email addresses, but this is only a minor detail) - much cheaper, and greater storage, than Dropbox.

The Dropbox iPhone application has a search bar on the right hand side of the screen with letters A-Z which do not function, you can only select A which takes you to the top of page and B which takes you to the bottom of the page, the other letter do nothing when pressed, it’s hard to navigate through a large folder with many folders.
This is not a new issue and has been around for several years. Hopefully dropbox get this fixed soon.
