v204.4.5420 on 6.10.2-arch1-1

On the website I can see a folder Dropbox/pepper, but on the  local disk of one of my desktops that directory is not there.  The directory is there on another desktop on the same LAN.

All directories are selected in the synch panel of the admin dialog.

Status is reported as "Up to date".

I hadn't noticed the date window for the 'deleted files' was so narrow. I broadened the date search and saw that I had deleted some directories without knowing I was doing that.

Restoring those directories has done the job.

Thank you all.

Hey @Stephen B.25, let's see what we can find together about this!

Is there a chance that you have removed the folder using selective sync? Would you mind checking the settings on the device, and letting me know more?

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Gotcha, thanks for letting me know @Stephen B.25!

Would you mind sending a few screenshots of what you see on the website in regards to the folder, and what is available inside your local Dropbox folder on the machine that's facing the issue?

I'd really rather not do that, Megan. I trust you but I'm just not comfortable with the idea. I'm a bit of an idiot that way.

Is there another way I can help? What would you look for in the screenshots?

Also I would be happy to re-install, but I'm not sure of the procedure.

Hey  @Stephen B.25 - you can try installing the latest, stable version of the app from this page directly.

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks Walter. Do I install over the current installation? Or should I remove it first?

Hi from me as well, @Stephen B.25! Before installing the latest app version, can you also double check that the name of your folder or its contents don’t have any of these characters in their filename?

Let me know what you find, and we'll go from there.

Hi Nancy. No forbidden characters. The name of one folder is ~/Dropbox/shared.

I have re-installed Dropbox over the existing version and the folders are still missing.

Perhaps I should purge the existing installation first? How do I do that?

To uninstall the Dropbox app completely, you can follow these steps

To clarify though, you mentioned in the beginning the folder in question was under this directory “~/Dropbox/pepper”. Is “~/Dropbox/shared” another directory that doesn’t sync to your computer besides “pepper”?

Let me know if I’ve misunderstood anything.
