Re: Dropbox files are partially downloading

Dropbox files are partially downloading

I have been having this issue where, I download a video file and it only downloads 50% of the file. Meaning if there is a 11gb file I need to download, it ends up only downloading 5gb even though it shows that the file is fully downloaded. Could you please help me understand the issue, is it an internet thing? a plan? or something else I need to do?

Hi @ahmed Saami, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Could you clarify how you're downloading the file? Is this from the site directly, the mobile app, or having the file download via syncing using the Dropbox desktop application?

This will help me to assist further!

I am downloading the file through the dropbox link in the chrome browser, where it gives the option to download the file to the device which is currently my pc.

Could you try switching browsers to see if this helps?

Otherwise, you can try using incognito/private browsing mode without any extensions running, clearing your cache and even resetting your browser entirely.

okay so I did try incognito, as well as clearing the cache files. I will, however, try downloading it from another browser and see if that works and will update if it works out

So i tried switching the browser as well now and its still doesnt download the complete file. what should i do now?

It sounds like there's an issue with the connection you're using not allowing the download to complete successfully.

Are you on a stable and reliable WiFi or ethernet connection?

yes, I am using an ethernet cable on my pc

The weird thing is, it only downloads 50% of the file every time I download the file. I've downloaded bigger files then this before.

Do you have any proxy, VPN, firewall, security software, or even ISP/router settings that could be restricting traffic to the following Dropbox domains?
