Re: How do I get rid of these annoying dropbox pop-ups and drop-down menus?

How do I get rid of these annoying dropbox pop-ups and drop-down menus?

This new version of Dropbox really has me confused! I was used to a simple relationship with it. I knew how to upload something to Dropbox and download it on another device elsewhere. That sort of thing. However, this new version has added this feature where pop-up/dropdown menus seem to be everywhere and appearing all the time. They're not only annoying as hell, but they’re often in the way, blocking some of the basic functions I'm using in an app. That said, can someone tell me how to turn these things off? I haven't been able to figure it out as hard as I've tried.

Thanks for reaching out... somehow, the problem was resolved, so I imagine the team did something behind the scenes when I reached out about it. Thank you for the follow-up, and to whomever solved the problem! Have a wonderful day.

P.S. In case someone has this same problem in the future, I was seeing the message consistently, regardless of uninstall/reinstall.

Hi @DC947, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Could you clarify what notifications you're referring to?

Are you seeing this on the Dropbox site, mobile app or desktop app?

Any other info or screenshots (without private information) would be helpful!

Every time I open dropbox on my mobile (Samsung), I get the message "we've moved things around." I clicked the "got it" button, yet a month later, this annoying pop-up appears EVERY time I use the app. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, checked notifications to disable it, yet nothing. How do we stop this annoying feature?

Hey @arl922 - thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Could you please send us a screenshot of the pop-up?

Also, what is your device's exact OS version and the version of the Dropbox app?

Thank you for the quick response... I've attached a picture (a new notification appeared today, which I've also attached--I'm hoping this was truly a one-time incident of that, but I sent it just in case). I'm using a Galaxy S20 FE 5G (Android version 13, One UI Version 5.1); Dropbox app version 386.2.2. I hope this helps... thanks again!

Hi @arl922,

I've spoken with our engineering team about the tooltips you're seeing. Uninstalling and reinstalling actually prompts them to come up again, but it sounds like you're seeing these even when you're not uninstalling & reinstalling. Normal app updates through the play store shouldn't cause these to reappear.

Just to confirm, you're seeing these tooltips consistently even if you don't uninstall and reinstall, correct? If that's the case, can we reach out via email to assist further?

Thanks,

Ben
