I have received an e-mail telling me of a new document available for me in Dropbox. The e-mail is from an address that ends with " em-s.dropbox.com ". Can anybody confirm that " em-s. " is a valid adjunct to " dropbox.com ", or is it sooner a trick?

Thank you.

Hey @EatSteve, thanks for letting us know!

The "em-s.dropbox.com" domain is one of our official domains, so this isn't a scam, however, can you double-check the email address this email was sent to?

Is it possible that you received this on a different address than the one linked to your paid account?

Thank you Hannah,

Yes, you're right. Thank you. It went to my work email, which was connected to a Dropbox business account closed down some years ago.

Why would that account still exist?

Steve

The email from "em-s.dropbox.com" is likely a valid notification. However, to be safe, avoid clicking links directly. Instead, log in to Dropbox separately to check for new documents. Always prioritize online safety.

Hi Hannah,

A follow up on this. I am continuing to get the mails, suggesting that I upgrade. How can I stop this happening? I assumed the account related to the DropBox business was removed when I reverted to as personal account.

Thank you.

Hey @EatSteve!

Even if the Business account was converted to a personal account, the account would still exist, if it never got deleted.

And if it's filled with files that make it go over its available quota, you'll keep receiving these emails.

Since you still have access to the email address, I'd suggest logging in and perhaps deleting some files, to bring it under quota, to stop these emails.

Hey there, @Bill S., I hope you're doing well!

If you have a look at our official Dropbox domains, you'll see this is indeed an email coming from us, informing you about how you can sync your files between devices.

Let me know if you need anything else, thanks!
