file explorer not responding when opening excel or word from dropbox folder

I just purchased a new computer with Windows 10 Pro. For some reason when opening any Microsoft Office product from the dropbox folder, the file explorer locks up and doesn't respond. From my documents folder or desktop, the files open with no issue. It is only from the dropbox folder. Tried all solutions that a google search gives me but so far nothing has worked. I have attempted more solutions than I can count. Looking for help.

  • Jay... Thanks for your response. Before you responded, I reinstalled the office 365 suite and it resolved the issue.

Hi Tony, could you try quitting the Dropbox desktop application completely and try opening files while the desktop app is closed?

If the issue persists while the app is closed, then it could either be an issue with the files in the folder, or with how Word/Excel are reading them.

    Keep me posted!

Glad to hear it’s working again! If you experience any further issues, let me know, otherwise, have a great Monday!
