i moved a bunch of files into a new folder and then i went to check and they showed up as deleted.
then i restored them but some would not restore
i was using the web version
Hi @ambern1023, could you clarify if you did the move while in Explorer, or on the website? Could you explain exactly how you moved the files, was it by dragging and dropping, or using some other method?
Were any of these files in a shared folder, or were they all private folders?

Hi again, @ambern1023!
Did you use these steps to move your files through our website?
Where did you see that they were deleted?
Were they not available at the new location after the move was complete?
Keep me posted.

Thanks for the info, if files are moved from a shared folder to a private folder, or moved into a restricted folder the it would be seen as a deletion as well.
Does this mean that you were able to find all the files and placed them in the correct folder?

i went through the recently deleted in activity i restored all of them however the new folder I made would not restore nor would the contents of it plus a couple misc. folders.
So how do i move files from a shared group folder into a new subfolder within that shared group folder and have it be only accessed by the manager group. but let everyone else still see the other sub folders etc
when you say it would be seen as deletion you mean the file was actually deleted or it was "deleted" from that specific folder and not visable to anyone that does not have the permission to the new folder?
Hey @ambern1023! I hope you don’t mind if I jump in here, too.
About your latest post, when moving a file/folder over to another location on your Dropbox account, that’d be recorded as a deletion from the original folder and as an addition to the new one (so, the second option).
When it comes to not being able to restore this folder back, can you please clarify what happens exactly when trying to do so? Are you receiving any errors, for example? Any screenshots you can provide are also welcome!
