My files had disappeared

My files had disappeared

I installed dropbox in my pc. It was backing up files that it was not supposed to. When I clicked in stop. It stopped to backup but had erased lots of important files from my PC. Also they are not in deleted files in dropbox site.

Hey @simonnevbarros, thanks for reaching out to our Community.

Sorry to see you're having trouble locating your files.

It sounds like you enabled the computer backup feature on your Dropbox app, but I'm not sure it was disabled correctly.

If the files are not in your deleted files page in Dropbox, or they didn't get a chance to sync, you probably won't be able to restore them through Dropbox.

Have you searched your hard drive for them, though? And your recycle bin as well?

Let me know what you find.

I've looked in every posible file. If I knew dropbox was doing this kind of thing I would not have installed, because I've also lost signed documents.

Thanks for your help anyway

Hi @simonnevbarros, if the missing files weren’t syncing to your account, then it wouldn’t be possible to recover them from the site.

However, it might be possible to recover the files from the local machine from the recycle bin, or using a third party app or service to do so.

Hi @biokosmos, have you enabled the computer backup feature on your machine, and are you missing files on your machine?

Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!
