Unable to edit documents via Office apps on iPad

Unable to edit documents via Office apps on iPad

Previously I could edit documents saved in Dropbox using the various Microsoft Office apps on my iPad.  This week I am now unable to edit or save documents unless I have a Microsoft 365 Subscription.  Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you rectify it?

Thanks

Hey @Luddite, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Can you let us know a bit more about why you're not able to edit the files?

If you could send us a screenshot of what you see, when you try to, that would be really helpful.

Also, can you tap on 'account', then on the gear icon and then on 'clear cache', to see if that helps?

Keep me posted.

Hi

I open the fields from Dropbox in the way I have always done (clicking on the open icon and then selecting the relevant Office application).  I am logged into my Microsoft 365 account across the various Office application.  Again, it has always been set up like this.

About a week ago I went to edit a document and an alert popped up saying that I had five free edits left before needing to upgrade my subscription.  Those have run out therefore I am now unable to do so.  The Office application just prompts me to sign in with an account that has a subscription - see attached photos.

Nothing has changed with my settings.  I have signed in and out of all applications, and cleared the cache, but nothing has worked.

Many thanks.

I see, thanks for the update, @Luddite!

Does uninstalling and reinstalling the apps help at all, maybe?

Deleted and reinstalling the apps doesn’t work either, unfortunately.

Hey @Luddite, sorry to jump in here, but could you clarify how many inches your iPad's screen is?

As outlined here, if you're using a tablet larger than 10", Microsoft requires that you have an O365 license to use Office applications.

I am using a large tablet so will need an O365 subscription. 😡

Thanks for the advice!
