My files are now gone.

My files are now gone.

Hello,

Yesterday morning I started having problems with Dropbox, it seems that a large folder was gone (100GB+, 46k+ files). It only appeared that this folder was not showing in my finder, but now it is completely gone, also not in my Dropbox browser.

I tried recovering the folder, but it is not in my 'Deleted files' as well.

1,000+ of hours of work are gone. I am totally desperate what to do.

Is there any way to restore this folder?

Hello,

It turned out that this folder with 46k+ files in it was somehow moved to my (local) Desktop.

No idea how that happened. It seems that all my files are in there.

Thanks for helping!

Frans

Nobody here to help me out. No phone number to call, no chat, no nothing.

Are the sure the folder was synced to Dropbox? Is there any record of the folder on your Events page?

Dropbox Support doesn't work weekends. If you're on a paid account, live chat is available Monday through Friday. If you have a Business team account, then you have access to phone support through your Admin console, also Monday through Friday.

Hello Rich,

The folder was synced. It is a folder I have been working from the couple of months.

On the event page, there is nothing about this folder. No trace of deleting or renaming or whatever!

If it isnt on Events then one of three things has happened - it is not, and never has been, on Dropbox, it was a Shared Folder which you have left, or been removed from, OR it has permanently been deleted.

The events page shows every change and update to all files and folders in Dropbox as long as they are not permanently deleted.

Have you looked at Dropbox on the status bar to see what it says if you mouse over its icon?
