Is there an application to automatically scan to OCR?

Is there an application to automatically scan to OCR?

Hello everyone!
I have recently acquired a Wi-Fi scanner capable of uploading scanned documents to Dropbox in PDF format (HP ScanJet Pro n4000 snw1).
I am interested in finding out whether there is an application, among those listed by Dropbox, which can automatically carry out OCR on these scanned documents and save them in the same folder, ideally modifying the file name to include ‘OCR’.

Thank you!

Hi @Enrico P.3, thanks for messaging the Community.

There isn't any official app as such, aside from the mobile document scanner

However, the search feature on the Dropbox site can use the built-in OCR to detect words in your file, depending on what plan you're on.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

Thank you ever so much for your prompt response. What I require, however, is a feature that performs OCR on a PDF document within a folder and saves it in such a manner that the recognised text remains usable even after the document has been downloaded from Dropbox.

Hey @Enrico P.3, apologies for the delay here, I hope you had fun during the holidays!

I'm afraid that this does not necessarily have to do with the file itself, but whether or not the app or service you're opening it with, has the feature to be able to 'read' the content of the file.

Once the file is downloaded from Dropbox, this would be something that's out of our control, so there's not much we can really do.

We thank you for your feedback, though, and I'll make sure to pass it along to our team.
