If there is a disk failure, will my data be saved and restored?
In the case of a hardware failure are all data saved with some kind of backup then restored and made available again?

Hi Jay, thanks a lot, this was really explaining and the correct answer to my question.
BTW I am a system administrator who in 2006 created a completely failsafe and redundant IT system for a hospital.

If you mean if you have hard drive failure then yes, you should be able to just log on and reinstall and it'll download everything again.

I think there was a misunderstanding: I want to understand if my data on Dropbox is protected in case there is a hardware problem on the Dropbox servers (NOT on my own hardware) that contain those data. In other words, if Dropbox systems are protected through backup and disaster recovery.

Thanks Megan for your reply, but the linked page only highlights "security" intended as protection against attacks or unwanted access. I don't see any reference to "safety" as protection against loss due to hardware failure such as failure of the disks containing the data. Often referred as "Disaster recovery". I would like to understand if the Dropbox infrastructure has this kind of safety.
