Files are being deleted on their own and it's been happening for some time now

i am not deleting the file but Files in my dropbox are automatically deleted , deleted files donot carry any name ie who deleted. There seems to be major Bug .. This is happening for past 3-4 months

Dropbox can't delete files on its own. It's simply not capable of it. If a file is being deleted, then either you, another process on your device or someone else with access to the folder is deleting the file.

Restore one of the deleted files and then look at its version history. It will show you the device where the deletion occurred. Check that device for anything that could be deleting the file(s).

It may be deleted or the Dropbox system is corrupted. I just had several thousand files deleted. That incident led me to this article

      It seems not the case

i have reinstalled Dropbox , i have genuine windows , antivirus etc everytime i complain , deleting stops for some time. I ave 21 GB in my account which has been earned by through referrals to others. still my account always gives me messages that 2 GB limit is over . It seems there is some bug in Dropbox which is not recognizing refrrals but in that case also deleting files is not ethical.

Dropbox cannot delete files automatically so something is happening to do it.

If you click on a file and restore it and then click on 'View Previous Versions' one you will be able to see where/when it was deleted and see and by who and where. That may give some clues as to what/where and who is going doing it

If you are a self-delete person, you cannot delete thousands of files in many folders (not folders) at the same time

Its strange , there seems to be some problem with dropbox , i have 22 GB storage in my account , presently using around 18 GB and files are getting deleted . This raises question marks on the safety of data at dropbox. Anybody pl help

Hi iasstudygroup, let's jump right to it!

Is the content that's getting deleted part of a shared folder?

Can you clarify, what your Events page at www.dropbox.com/events shows? This page gives you an overview of all activity in your account including files events (adds/edits/deletes), as well as adding or removing shared folders.

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

I'm also very worried about the data now. Because the most important data, I prioritize syncing Dropbox on my computer

i have 22 GB in my account , i am a user 20 years old, contributed/recommended  more than 500 user in the beginning . Why i am not allowed to use 22 GB , i have earned it. It seems to be highly unethical or a technical glitch. pl act rationally

Hey iasstudygroup, why do you think that you're not allowed to use your earned free space?

Regarding the deleted files, when you restore them, have you tried checking their version history, to see which user or which device is deleting the files?
