Delete, edit, and organize
Solve issues with deleting, editing, and organizing files and folders in your Dropbox account with support from the Dropbox Community.
a group of us have a shared folder. files are uploaded to it and stay there for a week to a month and then they are deleted and then replaced w/ new files.
I'd like to copy any new files posted to that folder to my local hard drive and KEEP them, even if they are deleted on Dropbox.
is this possible?
Hey @jazzmonger, thanks for posting to the Dropbox Community.
There's no automatic way to do this, but if you're using the Dropbox desktop app, you can always manually copy the files from your Dropbox folder and paste them to a different location, or if you're using the website, you can simply download the files to your computer.
I hope this helps, but let me know if you need anything else!

Then how do you sync a folder and NOT have it delete files when they are deleted on Dropbox ?

You don't. If a folder is syncing, anything in it will sync any changes made.
The only way to do what you want is as Hannah described, which is to manually copy the files from the folder (or copy the entire folder itself) to another location on your drive. Nothing in the copy will be deleted if files are deleted in the original folder.
