Why are files shared with me opened through a web browser?

Screenshot_2.png
At the same time, the files that I created (Excel, Word) are opened using Windows (Microsoft Office 2016)?

What should I do so that the files shared with me can be opened using desktop version of Microsoft Office?

Hello!
No access was granted not through a link, but through an account(email)

It turned out that the solution here is banal and simple.

Access was granted to a separate file and it did not appear in win explorer. But as soon as access to the folder was granted, the shared folder appeared in the Dropbox folder (in windows folder) and all the files that were there, respectively, too... Well, of course, in win explorer they are opened through desktop applications.
PS it took two days for solution ðŸ˜‚

Hey @p_kasandraa, thanks for posting to the Dropbox Community.

Are the files being shared with you, shared through Dropbox links? Because it's expected for links to open on a browser.

If you save the files to your Dropbox, though, you should be able to open them with the local Excel program on your computer.

Can you confirm that this is the behavior you're seeing?

Thanks.
