hi everyone

I used dropbox at work and now got it for me privately.

But I do not see the option "make available offline". I already reinstalled the app, but it still diesn't work.

I'm on mac ventura.

Does anyone have an suggestions? 🙂

Hi from me as well, @beyon! The option to make your files online-only is currently only available if you’re on a paid subscription, or if you install the Dropbox for macOS on File Provider update, like Megan mentioned above.

Sorry to hear about this, @beyon.

Can you send us a screenshot of the options you do see, when you right click on a file in your Dropbox folder?

Also, what's the sync status and version of the Dropbox app on your computer?

Hover over your Dropbox icon to see this info.

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for your fast reply!

Sure! Here's a screenshot.

It states that it is up to date.

Thanks for the screenshot, @beyon!

Does syncing work otherwise? If you add a file to your Dropbox folder, does it sync to your account on dropbox.com?

Also, what's the location of your Dropbox folder? Is it in your User folder or in ~/Library/CloudStorage?

yes, syncing works. My files are available online.

The folder is in my user folder. It was placed there by default.

Thanks for the update!

Can you also send us a screenshot of how the files appear in your Dropbox folder?

What kind of sync icons do they have on them?

They appear as usual.

Everything looks normal and behaves normal. I'm not new to dropbox, I use it since couple years at work.

Is this not a known issue?

Hi @beyon, is it safe to guess that you're also using a Dropbox Basic plan on your end?

In order for you to be able to make your files online-only, you need to either update to the latest version of Dropbox for macOS on File Provider

Or, if you’re on Dropbox Basic and you’d like to save storage space on your device, you can use selective sync. Or, upgrade your account.

Yes, I use only the basic plan.

Is this feature not available with the basic plan?

I had a lot of issues with my current provider. So I wanted to check first, if those issues would be solved with dropbox.
